What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an EFT Practitioner, and why are they important?

To thrive as an EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) Practitioner, you need a solid background in psychology or coaching, a comprehensive understanding of EFT methods, and typically an accredited EFT certification. Familiarity with video conferencing tools, client management systems, and EFT-specific resources is essential for remote and in-person sessions. Exceptional listening, empathy, and non-judgmental communication are crucial soft skills that help build trust and rapport with clients. These competencies are vital for effectively supporting clients through emotional challenges and ensuring safe, ethical practice.

What is an EFT Practitioner?

An EFT Practitioner is a professional trained in Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), a therapeutic approach that combines elements of cognitive therapy and exposure therapy with acupressure. EFT involves tapping on specific meridian points on the body while focusing on emotional issues, with the goal of reducing psychological stress and promoting emotional healing. Practitioners guide clients through this process to help them manage anxiety, trauma, phobias, and other emotional challenges. EFT is considered a complementary therapy and is often used alongside other forms of counseling or wellness practices.

Job description

Catholic-Christian EFT Therapist Position
Primary Contact: Jonathan Marcotte, Psy.D., LP
Who We Are:
Sacred Ground Psychotherapy (SGP) is a private mental health clinic located in Keller, TX that specializes in helping adults and couples connect in their most important relationships through the integration of faith and science. All our clinicians are trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and agree to our mission of promoting wholehearted healing and connection throughout the world by creating a space where people can feel vulnerable and loved at the same time.
Job Description:
SGP invites applications for a full-time counseling position serving adults and couples through in-person and telehealth services. Grow and work collaboratively with our team to further advance your skills and the mission and values of SGP. We are committed to helping our providers sharpen their skills through ongoing training, development, and deliberate practice with mentors and experts in the field.
We are looking for a clinician who is genuinely energized by the complexity of Couples and Family Systems. This is one of our highest-demand areas, and we are looking for someone who doesn't just "do" couples therapy, but is passionate about mastering the art of systemic intervention.

Because systems work is dynamic and challenging, our clinic also values a commitment to Reflective Practice. Success in this role requires more than just clinical skill; it requires a commitment to lifelong learning and self-reflection. We provide a supportive environment where we hold space for the complexities of human behavior, but we also value clinicians who look inward first when navigating performance trends. If you find excitement in analyzing your own clinical data to find ways to better serve your clients, you will thrive here

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Complete 20-direct service hours a week
  • Maintain a retention rate of 90%
  • Provide counseling services according to evidence-based practice and ethical standards, as outlined by your respective licensing board
  • Maintain SGP standards outlined in employee handbook
  • Coordinate client care through cooperation with administrative team
  • Maintain client files, with accurate and timely charting and billing
  • Engage in weekly team meetings and didactics (2-hours per week)
  • Seek advance practice of Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) through consultation and/or supervision
  • Work collaboratively to support other team members
  • Participate in networking and marketing as needed
  • If under supervision, engage in weekly supervision in fulfillment of licensure requirements

Minimum Requirements:
Our clinic seeks a mental health practitioner who is licensed as an associate or independent practitioner (LMFT, LPC, LCSW, LP) in the state of Texas, and meets the following requirements:
  • Completed a masterโ€™s or doctoral degree in the field of counseling, social work, marriage and family therapy, clinical psychology, or an associated mental health degree.
  • Is interest in learning and applying Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) with adults and couples. Priority will be given to applicants who have previously completed an ICEEFT approved externship.
  • Is committed to cultural humility, anti-racist therapy, and integrating key pieces of culture into therapy.
  • Understands and upholds the clinicโ€™s Catholic-Christian heritage and values.
  • Is interested in providing faith-integrated care to clients seeking to incorporate their faith, religion, spirituality or relationship with God into the process of therapy.
  • Is eager to work collaboratively within a team setting to further the mission and values of SGP
  • Exhibits excellent interpersonal skills
  • Has a commitment to lifelong learning.

  • A curriculum vitae
  • Proof of licensure
  • Completion of the Big 5 Personality Test at https://www.123test.com/personality-test/
  • Three letters of recommendation, emailed from your references directly to Hannah Mohr.
*NOTE: Applications will ONLY be considered if the above are sent in.ย ย
Compensation:
Our clinic provides competitive pay, which varies depending on your level of training, experience, and expertise.
