ANNOUNCEMENT OF VACANCY

Position Title: Adult Education Secretary/Clerk

Location: New Milford High School

Anticipated Start Date: Immediate Opening


General Scope of Function

New Milford Public Schools has an immediate opening for an excellent Adult Education Secretary/Clerk. This position requires strong people skills, the ability to multitask, and attention to detail. The secretary will assist the Program Manager in the day-to-day functioning of the Adult Education office.

Hours: MondayThursday, 4:00 p.m. 9:00 p.m.

Salary: $16.94 per hour (no benefits)

Position Overview

The Adult Education Secretary provides administrative support to the Adult Education department, facilitating effective operations and communication within the program. This role involves coordinating schedules, managing records, and assisting with various administrative tasks to ensure a smooth educational experience for adult learners.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Adult Education Secretary is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the Adult Education office. Essential duties and responsibilities include:

  • Providing general clerical support, including answering phones, managing correspondence, and handling inquiries from students and staff.
  • Organizing and maintaining the adult education schedule, including classes, workshops, and events.
  • Coordinating room bookings and resources needed for instructional sessions.
  • Maintaining accurate student records, including enrollment, attendance, and assessments, while ensuring confidentiality and compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Serving as the primary point of contact for students, instructors, and external partners.
  • Disseminating information regarding programs, resources, and policies.
  • Assisting with budgeting and financial processes, including tracking expenditures and processing invoices related to the Adult Education program.
  • Supporting the planning and execution of events, including graduations, orientation sessions, and community outreach activities.
  • Entering and maintaining data in educational software systems.
  • Generating reports as required for program evaluation and improvement.
  • Working closely with faculty, staff, and community organizations to enhance program delivery and student success.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in administrative support or secretarial roles, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Understanding of adult education principles and practices is a plus.

Physical Activity

The position may require infrequent lifting, pulling, or pushing during the normal performance of assigned duties. Frequent walking and standing may be required.


Work Environment

Work is performed in an office and school environment.


Terms of Employment

Compensation is $16.94 per hour. This position is not eligible for benefits.
