Position Summary
The Department of Higher Education and Learning Technologies at Texas A&M University-Commerce seeks to hire Graduate Assistant Researcher (s) (GAR) for the 2026-2027 academic year. Graduate Assistant Researchers will support faculty research, program assessment, data collection and analysis, literature reviews, grant-related activities, and departmental initiatives related to higher education, leadership, learning technologies, and educator preparation.
This position provides graduate students with valuable research experience while contributing to the advancement of departmental scholarship and student success initiatives.

Essential Responsibilities
Graduate Assistant Researchers may assist faculty and departmental staff with a variety of research and administrative projects, including:
  • Conducting literature reviews and synthesizing scholarly research.
  • Assisting with qualitative and quantitative research activities.
  • Collecting, organizing, and maintaining research data.
  • Supporting survey development, administration, and analysis.
  • Assisting with data entry, coding, and interpretation using research software and technology tools.
  • Preparing reports, presentations, and research summaries.
  • Supporting grant development and grant-funded project activities.
  • Assisting with conference proposals, publications, and scholarly presentations.
  • Participating in program evaluation and assessment activities.
  • Maintaining research records while adhering to university policies and ethical research standards.
  • Providing general support for departmental research initiatives and special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must:
  • Be admitted to or enrolled in a graduate program at East Texas A&M University.
  • Hold a bachelor's degree prior to the start date of employment.
  • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrate organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Be capable of working independently and collaboratively in a professional environment.
  • Maintain eligibility for graduate assistant employment in accordance with university policies.

Preferred Qualifications
Preference may be given to candidates with:
  • Prior research experience in educational settings.
  • Experience conducting literature reviews and academic writing.
  • Knowledge of qualitative and/or quantitative research methodologies.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint).

  • Experience working in higher education environments.
  • Strong project management and organizational abilities.
