Job description

Reporting to the Chief Geologist, the Site Exploration Manager will coordinate and execute exploration programs across GMIN's operations in Brazil or Guyana. The role is responsible for leading exploration activities from target generation through resource definition, ensuring programs are executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with corporate growth objectives. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership in geological interpretation, drilling and field program execution, geological data quality, and operational planning, while supporting the advancement of exploration targets toward development readiness.


Working Conditions

The Site Exploration Manager is a site-based rotational role supporting exploration activities across GMIN's operations in Brazil or Guyana. The role requires the ability to work effectively in remote and challenging field environments, manage multicultural teams, and maintain strong operational discipline.


Key Responsibilities

1. Technical & Program Management

    • Develop and implement exploration strategies and programs aligned with corporate growth objectives, prioritizing activities based on geological potential, resource growth opportunities, risk, and budget considerations.
    • Provide technical leadership in geological interpretation, target generation, and mineral system analysis to support discovery and resource growth opportunities.
    • Manage and oversee drilling and field exploration programs, including trenching, mapping, sampling, and core logging activities, ensuring safe execution, high-quality geological data collection, and adherence to QA/QC best practices.


2. Project & Operational Management

    • Coordinate and manage exploration programs across assigned projects, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, execution, and reporting, ensuring activities are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget.
    • Maintain high standards for geological data management, QA/QC processes, and exploration databases while overseeing core shack operations and ensuring compliance with regulatory, operational, and industry best practices.
    • Monitor exploration program performance, costs, and outcomes, proactively identifying operational risks and implementing practical, cost-effective solutions to support successful project delivery.


3. Leadership & Collaboration

    • Lead, mentor, and develop multidisciplinary exploration teams, fostering a collaborative, high-performance, and safety-focused work environment that supports strong geological and operational capabilities.
    • Collaborate cross-functionally with environmental, permitting, legal, safety, community relations, and operational teams to ensure responsible and compliant exploration practices across Brazil/Guyana operations.
    • Maintain strong working relationships and communication with local authorities, partners, consultants, contractors, and other key external stakeholders.


Requirements

Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years of mineral exploration experience, including leadership responsibility for exploration programs and field teams, preferably within South America and remote operational environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in gold exploration and resource development, with strong knowledge of gold deposit environments, geological modelling, and exploration program execution.


Education/Certification/Designation

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, Earth Sciences, or a related discipline, with strong technical knowledge of exploration geology, mineral systems, and resource development considered an asset.


Technical Skills/Knowledge

  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multidisciplinary teams, prioritize exploration activities, and support strategic decision-making in dynamic operational environments.
  • Proficiency with geological and modelling software including Leapfrog, ioGAS, and QGIS, with experience using platforms such as Surpac and Micromine considered an asset.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and risk management capabilities, with a high level of attention to detail, data integrity, and operational execution.
  • Strong understanding of permitting, regulatory, and operational requirements across Brazil/Guyana jurisdictions, with a demonstrated commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, ESG principles, and continuous improvement.
  • Fluency in English is required; Portuguese or Spanish is considered an asset.
