The Department of Social Services (DSS) is comprised of the administrative units of the New York City Human Resources Administration (HRA) and the Department of Homeless Services (DHS). HRA is dedicated to fighting poverty and income inequality by providing New Yorkers in need with essential benefits such as Food Assistance and Emergency Rental Assistance. DHS is committed to preventing and addressing homelessness in New York City by employing a variety of innovative strategies to help families and individuals successfully exit shelter and return to self-sufficiency as quickly as possible.
Customized Assistance Services (CAS) helps Human Resources Administration (HRA) clients with health and/or mental health conditions reach their highest attainable level of functioning and self-sufficiency by providing comprehensive, integrated, individualized clinical and support services. CAS works with other components of HRA and with other governmental and non-governmental service providers to create new programs and to. integrate and refi ne existing services so the people it serves can achieve their maximum functional capacity.
Office of Rehabilitative Services help cash assistance clients to achieve their highest level of self-sufficiency through treatment retention, recovery from substance use and movement towards employment or Federal disability benefits resulting in significant cost savings to the City. Under the direction of the Assistant Deputy Commissioner (ADC) for Administration and Program Facilitation, the position will work closely with the ADC to perform liaison activities with community-based substance abuse treatment and harm reduction programs and contracted case management programs to provide program updates, resolve system-related issues and ensure compliance with reporting requirements.
Customized Assistance Services (CAS) is recruiting for one (1) Principal Administrative Associate II to function as a Program Assistant who will:
-Liaise with Substance Abuse related programs regarding program updates, training, issues related to automated systems and compliance with program reporting requirements.
-Collect data, perform analysis and produce reports related to Substance Abuse Treatment and Harm Reduction programs activities and outcomes.
-Research case-specific information by checking automated systems and contacting programs; forward information to Office management.
-Coordinate meetings and training and answer inquiries from Substance Abuse related programs.
-Update HRA and CAS automated systems to create/adjust client appointment slots, ensure that substance abuse program letters of agreement and licensing requirements are current and program site addresses and contact information are accurate.
-Perform additional duties as assigned
Hours/Shift: 9:00am-5:00pm (Flexible)

Qualifications
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and three years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience, one year of which must have been in an administrative capacity or supervising staff performing clerical/administrative work of more than moderate difficulty; or
2. An associate degree or 60 semester credits from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience including one year of the administrative supervisory experience described in "1" above; or
3. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and five years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience including one year of the administrative supervisory experience as described in "1" above;
4. Education and/or experience equivalent to "1", "2", or "3" above. However, all candidates must possess the one year of administrative or supervisory experience as described in "1" above. Education above the high school level may be substituted for the general clerical/administrative experience (but not for the one year of administrative or supervisory experience described in "1" above) at a rate of 30 semester credits from an accredited college for 6 months of experience up to a maximum of 3½ years.
