Job description

SUMMARY
As a RN Lactation Consultant, your demonstrated empathy, patience and excellent ability to guide are key in preparing mothers to breastfeed and providing safe care for infants.
You'll play a vital role in supporting mothers and families through one of life's most important transitions. With empathy, patience, and expert guidance, you'll provide education, hands-on support, and personalized feeding plans that promote infant health and maternal well-being.
Collaborating with the care team, you'll serve as a trusted advocate and resource, helping families navigate breastfeeding challenges with confidence while advancing evidence-based practices to enhance the overall patient and family experience.
Two (2) years of experience as a lactation consultant required.
REQUIREMENTS: Candidate must be a Certified Lactation Consultant at the time of hire and obtain IBCLC certification within 12 months of employment. Candidate must be a Registered Nurse.

SCHEDULE: 10 or 12 Hour Days/Evenings

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Program Development. Inform about the nutritional and physiological benefits of human milk; assist with decision making; provide anticipatory guidance concerning common problems associated with breastfeeding; describe and encourage good infant rooting, latching and suck-swallow pattern; discuss dietary requirements, medications or other substances which may have an effect on breastfeeding.
  • Individualized Care. Provide individualized assistance to mothers with an identified lactation problem.
  • Leadership & Collaboration. Collaborate with other health workers in maintaining frequent and regular communication with the breastfeeding dyad; assist with staff education including all aspects of lactation management and clinical issues.
