Role description:
The Project Manager - Architect is accountable for the overall health, quality, financial performance, schedule, and successful delivery of assigned projects. This role serves as the primary client contact, coordinates internal and external project participants, and provides architectural leadership throughout all phases of work. The successful candidate combines strong design and technical judgement with disciplined project management, clear communication, and collaborative team leadership.
Role accountabilities:
- Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of multiple architectural projects while maintaining alignment with client expectations, contractual requirements, quality standards, budget, and schedule.
- Manage projects through programming, concept design, design development, construction documentation, permitting, construction administration, and closeout.
- Serve as the primary client liaison; define objectives, confirm scope, communicate progress, and maintain client satisfaction.
- Develop and manage project work plans, staffing, schedules, fees, budgets, milestones, and deliverables.
- Monitor project financial performance, identify risks, and implement corrective actions to support profitable delivery.
- Coordinate project teams, clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies to support timely decisions and project delivery.
- Lead architectural design and technical coordination, including code compliance, constructability, specifications, and integration of consultant work.
- Direct the preparation of accurate, coordinated construction documents in accordance with established standards and quality procedures.
- Plan and support quality assurance and quality control reviews.
- Administer owner and consultant agreements; manage scope changes and support preparation of proposals, fee estimates, and contracts.
- Lead construction-phase services, including site observations, RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, substitutions, change documentation, contractor pricing review, and project closeout.
- Resolve design, technical, contractual, and delivery issues within the project scope and escalate matters when appropriate.
- Lead, mentor, and develop project team members; assign work, establish expectations, and support accountability and professional growth.
- Prepare and deliver client, stakeholder, community, and public presentations, including school board presentations when required.
- Support marketing, business development, and client relationship initiatives as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in architecture.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible experience in an architectural design practice, including management of complex projects and multidisciplinary teams.
- Architectural license in Oregon preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of building construction, architectural detailing, building codes, permitting, construction documents, specifications, and construction administration.
- Proven ability to manage project scope, contracts, fees, budgets, schedules, staffing, documentation, and financial performance.
- Strong client service, presentation, problem-solving, decision-making, and written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated leadership, mentorship, organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage competing priorities under deadline pressure.
- Ability to develop architectural solutions independently and collaboratively while maintaining design intent, technical quality, and client standards.
- Proficiency in Revit, Bluebeam, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and related project collaboration tools.
- Experience with educational architecture, particularly K-12 projects, preferred.

Arcadis offers benefits for full time and part time positions. We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $88,000 - $133,000.
