Position Summary

The Calgary Stampede is committed to hiring the best educational talent. The role provides professional development and leadership opportunities, a variety of unique projects, program design experience, connections to the education and broader community, and the opportunity to impact students and teachers across the city. The Education Coordinator will help to continually improve the Calgary Stampede Foundation programs, developing strong youth for a stronger community.

Reporting to the Manager, Youth Education Programs, the Education Coordinator is a member of the Calgary Stampede Youth Achievement Team.  The Education Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of the OH Ranch Education Program, education events and experiences and office administration.  The position will also provide ongoing support for all educational programs, including Youth Poster Competition, Stampede School, Sam Centre Education and Journey 2050.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

Coordination and Operations

  • Coordinate day-to-day operations of the OH Ranch Education Program, including class and facilitator scheduling.
  • Develop and coordinate education events and experiences in collaboration with the Education Team.
  • Support the operational execution of Calgary Stampede Education Programs, including use of Stampede’s business operating system.
  • Lead database management, program material development and acquisition, reporting, participant communications, and stakeholder communications with support from the Education Team.
  • Nurture positive relationships with teachers, principals, students, volunteers, sponsors, donors, partners, vendors, and other key community stakeholders.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by sharing feedback with fellow coordinators and strengthening Stampede education programs as community leaders.
  • Support budget planning, accountability, and maximization.

Recruiting and Promotions

  • Support the development and implementation of recruitment and promotion strategies that advance the Calgary Stampede Foundation’s strategic objectives.
  • Raise awareness of Stampede education programs through community engagement, educational conferences, seminars, and related outreach opportunities.

Program Delivery and Facilitation

  • Deliver interdisciplinary educational programming.
  • Create an engaging and interactive learning environment, fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and meaningful connections, preparing youth as spirited citizens.
  • Developing and improving the methods and presentation styles to make content come to life and guide participant’s exploration.
  • Engage all participants including; students, teachers, and parent volunteers.
  • Ensure safety and well-being of students, teachers, parent volunteers and presenters.

Qualifications 

The ideal candidate will be proactive, optimistic and have worked in a dynamic environment where they have experience delivering on multiple priorities and will hold the following qualifications:  

  •  Bachelor’s degree in a related or post-secondary certification in a related field (Education, Business Administration, Marketing or Communications).
  • Thorough understanding of administrative processes and procedures.
  • Effective communication skills both written and oral.
  • Proven experience coordinating key stakeholder groups for the purpose of educational design, development, and implementation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Publisher, Outlook and Google Suite and technical troubleshooting skills.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable access to a vehicle
  • Knowledge of an interdisciplinary approach to teaching and learning is an asset.

 Working Conditions

  • Office, classroom, and field school environment including the broader Stampede Park and the OH Ranch (west of Longview).
  • Evening and weekend work is required, occasionally.
  • Repetitive arm, hand and finger movements, occasional lifting up to 20 lbs, squatting, bending and reaching, stair climbing, sitting for long periods of time, exposure to dust, fumes and animal dander.
