Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION

TITLE: Meskwaki Higher Education Program Director DEPARTMENT: Higher Education

CLASSIFICATION: Exempt

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and maintain the Meskwaki Higher Education Program and administer BIA Higher Education/Adult Vocational Training/Adult Education program in accordance with Tribal and Federal laws, procedures and guidelines.
  • Review and approve student applications for financial assistance.
  • Research and provide available college scholarship information to potential applicants.
  • Monitor and evaluate Higher Education and Adult Vocational Training/Adult Education student progress and grades/GPA to determine continued eligibility for financial assistance.
  • Maintain program compliance with tribal and federal codes and policies.
  • Monitor higher education, adult vocational training, and adult education programs.
  • Provide academic and career advising to program participants on an as-needed basis.
  • Supervise Meskwaki Higher Education staff.
  • Develop, monitor and maintain the Tribal and BIA budgets for the Higher Education Program.
  • Submit quarterly, annual and funding reports as required.
  • Develop, coordinate and assist in program activities to increase interest in higher education and vocational studies.
  • Coordinate college/training school tours for potential students.
  • Research and provide available summer college preparation programs for potential students.
  • Serve on boards or committees to address education issues at the local, state, regional or national level.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field and five years of experience in program development, management and grant writing OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Be knowledgeable and proficient in P.C. word processing, spreadsheet, Internet and e-mail.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in teambuilding and teamwork.
  • Possess a general knowledge of higher education advising and advocacy in an educational setting.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have a good driving record.
  • Travel required with some after-hours and weekend work.
  • Submit to and successfully complete a background investigation.

SUPERVISION:

  • Supervised by the Executive Director.

SALARY LEVEL:

  • Annual Salary Range: $66,102- $93,204
