Responsibilities
Description
The Senior Manager, Product Strategy plays a critical role in advancing PowerSchool's product and portfolio strategy across the Student Information and Family Engagement portfolios. Reporting to the Senior Director, Product Strategy, this role is responsible for delivering data-driven analysis and strategic recommendations that inform business decisions and drive growth, retention, and profitability.
Working cross-functionally with leaders across Product, Finance, Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success, the Senior Manager is expected to influence executive decision-making through clear insights, strategic thinking, and compelling executive-level storytelling. Over time, this individual will be expected to progressively take ownership of a solution area, serving as a strategic partner in shaping portfolio direction, identifying growth opportunities, and driving long-term business performance.
Your day-to-day job will consist of:
  • Leading end-to-end research initiatives-including customer discovery, market analysis, and competitive benchmarking-synthesizing complex data into actionable insights, opportunity areas, and strategic recommendations that inform product strategy and roadmap prioritization
  • Conducting quarterly and ad hoc performance analyses across bookings, pipeline, win/loss, retention, and product metrics, translating findings into clear narratives for senior leadership and Board audiences
  • Maintaining deep expertise in K-12 market dynamics, including district and school customer needs, competitive activity, policy developments, and emerging trends, proactively identifying implications for pricing, packaging, positioning, and go-to-market execution
  • Building rigorous business cases to support evaluation of product investments, strategic partnerships, and adjacent market opportunities, balancing growth potential with long-term portfolio profitability
  • Contributing to cross-functional planning efforts by providing timely market, customer, and competitive insights that support decision-making across Product, Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in product strategy, strategy consulting, or a related field
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent, or equivalent years of relevant work experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize secondary and primary research, market landscape findings, data from business results, and competitive intelligence resources
  • Strong business and financial acumen, with the ability to analyze performance trends and translate insights into strategic recommendations
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with experience creating executive- and Board-level materials
  • Travel occasionally, up to 10%, for key moments such as team summits, training, customer meetings, company events, etc., with increased frequency during peak periods based on business demands.
  • This position is subject to company on call policies which constitutes working hours outside of the normal workday as needed.
  • Additional experience may be substitute for an advanced Degree.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in EdTech, SaaS, or enterprise software organizations
  • Proficiency in Salesforce, Power BI, or similar CRM and business intelligence platforms
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint for data analysis and executive-level presentations
  • Knowledge of the Student Information System (SIS), Enrollment, Family Engagement, or related K-12 education technology markets

A reasonable estimate of the base compensation range for this position is $94,000 - $132,600 USD. This compensation range is specific to the United States and it incorporates many factors including but not limited to an applicant's skills and prior relevant experience and training; licensures, degrees, and certifications; internal equity; internal pay ranges; and market data/range parameters.
