Edtech Leader information

What is an edtech leader?

Edtech Leaders are professionals who guide the integration and effective use of technology in educational settings. They are responsible for developing strategies, implementing digital tools, and supporting educators and students in leveraging technology to enhance learning outcomes. Edtech Leaders often work in schools, districts, higher education, or educational technology companies, serving as visionaries and change agents for technology-driven education. Their role requires a blend of educational expertise, technical skills, and leadership abilities to ensure technology is used responsibly and effectively in learning environments.

How do edtech leaders typically collaborate with educators and IT teams to successfully implement new technologies in schools?

Edtech Leaders play a crucial role in bridging the gap between educational goals and technological solutions. They regularly collaborate with teachers to understand classroom needs and provide appropriate training for new tools, while partnering with IT teams to ensure smooth integration and ongoing technical support. This collaboration often involves leading workshops, gathering feedback, and facilitating communication between all stakeholders to address challenges and maximize the impact of edtech initiatives.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an edtech leader, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Edtech Leader, you need expertise in educational theory, instructional design, and technology integration, often supported by advanced degrees in education or instructional technology. Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS), digital content creation tools, and data analytics platforms is typically required, along with certifications such as ISTE or Google Certified Educator. Strong leadership, communication, and change management skills help drive innovation and foster collaboration among educators, administrators, and technology teams. These competencies are vital for effectively implementing technology solutions that enhance teaching and learning outcomes in educational environments.

About LKA Staffing

LKA & Associates, LLC, DBA LKA Staffing, is a minority woman-owned recruiting and talent acquisition consulting firm. We partner with commercial organizations, technology companies, research institutions, higher education organizations, and select healthcare clients to deliver specialized technical talent.

This role is focused exclusively on commercial business development and does not include public-sector solicitation review, proposal development, government capture, or cleared/MSP account management.

Our commercial recruiting focus includes AI/ML, GenAI, LLMs, AI automation, data engineering, cloud, DevOps, software engineering, cybersecurity, product, and emerging technology roles.

Position Overview

LKA Staffing is seeking an energetic, relationship-driven Business Development Representative to generate new commercial staffing and recruiting business.

This person will identify prospective clients, open conversations with decision-makers, qualify hiring needs, and help convert opportunities into signed client agreements and active job orders. The ideal candidate understands consultative staffing sales and can speak credibly with technology leaders about the talent needs supporting AI, data, engineering, automation, and digital transformation initiatives.

This role is focused exclusively on commercial business development. It does not include cleared staffing, government contracting, public-sector proposal work, or solicitation management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prospect and develop new commercial clients with hiring needs in AI/ML, data, software engineering, cloud, DevOps, cybersecurity, automation, and related technology functions.
  • Build relationships with founders, CEOs, CTOs, CIOs, VPs of Engineering, Heads of Data/AI, HR leaders, talent acquisition leaders, and hiring managers.
  • Conduct outbound outreach through LinkedIn, email, phone, networking, referrals, and targeted digital campaigns.
  • Schedule and participate in discovery calls to understand client hiring needs, workforce plans, recruiting challenges, and urgency.
  • Present LKA Staffing’s recruiting, sourcing, contract, contract-to-hire, direct-hire, and talent acquisition consulting services.
  • Secure new client agreements, preferred vendor relationships, retained search engagements, recruiting projects, and active job orders.
  • Work with LKA leadership and delivery resources to ensure a smooth handoff once an opportunity becomes active.
  • Maintain accurate sales activity, contacts, client notes, follow-ups, and pipeline stages in the company CRM or tracking system.
  • Provide market intelligence on emerging hiring trends, client needs, competitor activity, and target industries.
  • Represent LKA Staffing with professionalism, sound judgment, confidentiality, and integrity.

Target Markets

  • AI/ML, GenAI, LLM, and AI automation companies
  • Data engineering, analytics, and data platform organizations
  • SaaS, cloud, DevOps, and software product companies
  • Cybersecurity and digital transformation firms
  • Healthcare technology, fintech, edtech, and research-driven companies
  • Growth-stage startups, mid-market companies, and established organizations expanding technical teams
  • Organizations needing contract, contract-to-hire, direct-hire, project recruiting, or talent acquisition consulting support

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated success in B2B sales, staffing sales, business development, account management, recruiting, or workforce solutions.
  • Strong written, verbal, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to prospect independently and manage a disciplined sales pipeline.
  • Experience working with senior business leaders, hiring managers, HR teams, or technical stakeholders.
  • Comfort conducting consultative discovery conversations and identifying real hiring needs.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and able to work effectively in a remote, commission-based environment.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and discretion.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience selling IT staffing, technical recruiting, professional services, SaaS, consulting, or workforce solutions.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML, GenAI, data engineering, cloud, DevOps, software engineering, cybersecurity, or technical hiring markets.
  • Existing network of commercial technology leaders, startup founders, HR leaders, or talent acquisition decision-makers.
  • Experience with staffing agreements, recruiting contracts, contract-to-hire, direct-hire, retained search, or managed recruiting services.
  • Familiarity with LinkedIn Sales Navigator, CRM systems, prospecting tools, and outbound sales campaigns.
