Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Orthopedic Technician to assist orthopedic physicians and physician assistants (PA) in a busy outpatient clinic setting. The ideal candidate will support patient care through casting, splinting, documentation, and clinical assistance while maintaining compliance with facility policies and procedures.


Responsibilities
  • Assist orthopedic physician/PA with procedures, anticipating supply needs

  • Apply orthopedic devices (casts, splints, braces, external fixators) for patients ranging from infant to geriatric

  • Perform removal of sutures/staples and dressing changes

  • Assist with patient intake, rooming, charting, and documentation

  • Obtain patient history and prepare physician for examinations

  • Manage patient flow and maintain stocked treatment areas

  • Prepare and organize surgery charts, orders, consents, and scan patient records

  • Process DME applications when needed

  • Log nurse notes and medication refills in patient charts

  • Return patient calls and messages within the same business day

  • Maintain compliance with Code of Conduct and clinic policies

  • Participate in continuing education and stay current with orthopedic techniques


Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED (required; higher degree if hired after March 1, 2025)

  • Orthopedic Technician Certification (Required)

  • American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Certification (Required)

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to operate general office equipment (computer, printer, scanner, phone)

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively

  • Critical thinking skills

  • Work within scope of practice


Preferred
  • Prior orthopedic clinical experience

  • Experience in high-volume outpatient settings

  • Familiarity with EMR systems
