Job description

 

Develop, recommend, and trouble shoot tooling and equipment and manufacturing processes. Ensure new product launch success. Define and implement cost savings and process improvements.


Principal Responsibilities:

  • Prepares work to be cost estimated by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
  • Evaluates manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research, applying knowledge of product design, fabrications, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators
  • Design, recommend, and advise on manufacturing tools, fixtures, and fabrication equipment including repair and build
  • Recommend and purchase CNC cutting tools for process requirements and improvements
  • Design and build Locating fixtures, CNC Fixtures, and Machining fixtures
  • Direct CNC operators on methods of CNC machining 
  • Provide trouble shooting of CNC machining operations, including 3 and 5 axis milling, CNC Lathe, and Wire EDM
  • Create tooling required for other processes using CNC milling and wire EDM.
  • Create and maintain CNC programs for 3 Axis mills, CNC Lathe, and wire EDM using Master CAM and machine proprietary programs. Program Laser dyne 5 axis laser, including responsibility for Laser PM and fixtures
  • Develop manufacturing processes and improvements within CNC machining department
  • Assure product quality by developing robust processes, inspection methods, and tooling
  • Contribute to quoting of new work through analyzing previous performance and developing process workflows
  • Launch new programs and assist with creating tooling, Machining trials and improvements
  • Supervise Tool Room including project load, Tool Maker schedules, time approval, & personnel issues
  •  Other duties as assigned

Safe Practice Guidelines / Required Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Safety glasses with side shields as required. 
  • Steel toed/metatarsal safety shoes as required. 
  • Earplugs as required.

Qualifications and Educational Requirements: 

  • High School Diploma, 2-year Technical/engineering degree/Tool and Die Journeyman
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in CNC 3 axis Mill and CNC Lathe programming
  • Hands on experience in Tool and Die highly desired
  • Elumatec Machining experience a plus
  • CNC programing experience required (Mastercam software)
  • MS Office (including Word and Excel)
  • MS Projects – experience a plus
  • AutoCAD/Inventor 3D experience required
