Job description

Your opportunity

At Schwab, you’re empowered to make an impact on your career. Here, innovative thought meets creative problem solving, helping us “challenge the status quo” and transform the finance industry together.

We believe in the importance of in-office collaboration and fully intend for the selected candidate for this role to work on site in the specified location.

A job with Creative Center (C2), Charles Schwab’s award-winning in-house agency, is a career with purpose. We’re on a mission to make our clients’ lives and futures better. When we tell clients, “Own your tomorrow,” we mean it—and we work with them to make it happen. Everything we do matters because we literally change lives. That’s a pretty cool thing to be able to say.

To change lives, we challenge conventions, so we need people willing to challenge themselves, and us. We need “get-it-done,” “what-if,” and “why-not” people. We don’t want people who see a glass as half-full, we want people who see it as full of potential. If you can get behind that, we can get behind you.

The Sr Specialist, Editorial & Copywriting plays a critical role in delivering clear, accurate, consistent, and compliant communications across Schwab’s marketing ecosystem. This role combines editorial expertise, copywriting, digital content knowledge, systems thinking, and cross-functional collaboration to elevate content quality and improve the client experience. The successful candidate will partner with writers, marketers, designers, program managers, content owners, Legal, Compliance, and Regulatory teams to ensure content meets business objectives while adhering to Schwab's voice, standards, and regulatory requirements.

Editors are core contributors to Schwab’s marketing and communication efforts, ensuring every message is clear, correct, consistent, and compliant. In this role, you:

  • Edit, proofread, and refine content for clarity, accuracy, grammar, structure, readability, consistency, formatting, and brand alignment.
  • Ensure revisions, version control, regulatory language, references, and source content are accurately incorporated throughout the review process.
  • Current working experience with Schwab systems and processes.
  • Evaluate content against audience needs, business objectives, brand standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Partner with writers and business stakeholders to strengthen messaging, improve clarity, and increase content effectiveness.
  • Support the development and maintenance of editorial standards, style guides, governance practices, and content documentation.
  • Work effectively within digital content ecosystems, including content management systems, design systems, Workfront, Adobe Acrobat, and collaboration platforms.
  • Identify workflow inefficiencies and recommend improvements that increase quality, consistency, scalability, and operational effectiveness.
  • Apply systems thinking to connect content, processes, technology, and stakeholder needs across multiple channels and workstreams.
  • Partner effectively across creative, marketing, product, technology, and governance teams to support evolving business priorities.
  • Demonstrate continuous learning and adaptability by embracing emerging technologies, AI-enabled tools, content platforms, and evolving delivery models. Apply new knowledge to improve editorial quality, operational efficiency, scalable content practices, and cross-functional ways of working.
What you have

To ensure that we have fulfilled our promise of "challenging the status quo," this role has specific qualifications that successful candidates should have.

Required Qualifications

This role blends editorial mastery, cross functional partnership, critical thinking, and a deep commitment to quality.

  • Bachelor's degree and relevant experience in editing, copywriting, content strategy, technical writing, communications, journalism, marketing, or a related field.
  • Exceptional command of the English language, including grammar, usage, style, proofreading, and copyediting best practices.
  • Ability to simplify complex information into clear, concise, and audience-appropriate content.
  • Experience working within digital editorial workflows and online review environments.
  • Experience with content management systems, design systems, structured content, or digital publishing platforms.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrated curiosity, adaptability, initiative, and commitment to continuous improvement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in an agency, in-house creative organization, financial services, or highly regulated industry.
  • Experience with Confluence, SharePoint, knowledge management systems, and content operations practices.
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards and inclusive content practices.
  • Experience leveraging AI tools and emerging technologies to improve content creation, editorial review, documentation, or workflow efficiency.
  • Ability to help shape future-state content operations, governance, and scalable ways of working across a modern marketing organization.

In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities
