A high-level technical expert and leader capable of working with minimal to no supervision. Responsible for taking a part from print to finished product, writing or heavily modifying CNC programs, troubleshooting complex machining issues, and mentoring lower-level machinists.
Key Responsibilities
  • Complete Process Ownership: Build manufacturing processes from blueprint to finished part. Setup machines, fixtures, and tooling completely independently.
  • Programming & Editing: Write or heavily modify CNC programs using G-code or CAM software.
  • Advanced Machinery & Flexibility: Flexibly operate, set up, and run all shop equipment, including:
    • 3-Axis Vertical Mills & 4-Axis Horizontal Mills
    • Horizontal & Vertical Turning Centers
    • Horizontal Boring Mills (HBM) & Vertical Boring Mills (VBM)
  • Technical Mastery: Demonstrate strong mechanical knowledge, advanced trigonometry, thorough understanding of GD&T, metallurgy, and advanced inspection/measurement techniques.
  • Advanced Troubleshooting: Solve complex issues regarding part geometry, custom fixturing, and material distortion.
  • Leadership & Optimization: Mentors and trains lower-level machinists. Uses root-cause thinking to optimize processes, improve throughput, and enhance shop efficiency.
