OVERVIEW
As a Senior Publisher, you will play a key role in ensuring the successful publication and market penetration of our health content. Engaging in advanced editorial and publication tasks, you will contribute significantly to the quality and effectiveness of our content. Your expertise will help refine our products and enhance their value to our audience, ultimately supporting better health outcomes through trusted information.

Our Senior Publisher is a strategic and results-driven publishing professional to manage and grow a dynamic portfolio of scholarly journals. In this role, you will oversee financial performance, editorial operations, stakeholder engagement, and portfolio development while driving initiatives that enhance journal quality, visibility, and long-term success. You will lead acquisition and growth efforts by building target pipelines, responding to proposals and expressions of interest, and identifying opportunities within the evolving scholarly publishing landscape. Collaborating across cross-functional teams, you will contribute to department-wide initiatives and continuous improvement efforts, leveraging your expertise in scholarly publishing to solve complex challenges with confidence, independence, and sound judgment.
RESPONSIBLITIES

  • Works with the Associate Director, Medical Journals, to develop and execute the strategy of the Wolters Kluwer Health publishing program.
  • Identifies strategic priorities based on industry/competitive analysis and market trends. Identifies areas for differentiation and improvement.
  • Manages journal/portfolio P&Ls to meet or exceedROI/profitabilitytargets. Participates inregularbudgetingand forecastingprocessand proactively adjusts product plans to improve/achieve financial performance.
  • Gathers andanalyzesperformance data and KPIs to preparepublishing reports for professional associations and editorial boards. Provides reports on product updates, web metrics, and other key indicators asrequired.
  • Applies AI-enabled tools thoughtfully to support publishing strategy, enhance decision-making, and identify efficiency opportunities.
  • Actively develops and pursues new publishing opportunities based on assigned acquisitions targets.Acquiresand/or responds to new product or new partnership proposals (i.e.newsociety journals, proprietaryaffiliations, portals, CE/CME expansion).
  • Launches journals with new and existing customers.
  • Negotiates sound editor, society, and sponsorship contracts (new and renewal), including preparing and analyzing financial data.
  • Manages the editorial development of journals within assigned portfolio through liaison and regular communication with authors, editors, medical societies and internal and external teams.
  • Maintains and enhances the value proposition to authors, editors and societies to increase submissions and impact.
  • Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to develop journal processes, features, and services.
  • Promotes and raises awareness and visibility of assigned journal portfolio to the wider market via email, in person meetings, and at appropriate conferences.
  • Collaborates with marketing to drive website usage.
  • Effectively manages internal/external editorial resources and relationships to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Ensure timely and accurate digital content uploads and updates.
  • Synthesize customer feedback to inform content updates and improvements.
  • Provides project management support, tracking milestones, and ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:Bachelor's degree,or if not a degree,8 years of publishing experience.

Required Experience:

  • 5 years ofSTM(Science, Technology, & Medical)publishing experience.

Preferred Experience:

  • 3 years of print and online product development and management experience preferred.
  • 5 years ofjournalpublishing experience preferred.
  • Strong financial analysis and financial modeling skills.
  • Experienced at defining product requirements for high traffic media websites.
  • Experience in management and execution of major projects with strongproblem-solvingskills.
  • Demonstrateproven organizational and planning skills while exhibitingdetail-orientedbehavior.
  • Excellent writing, communication,negotiation,and presentation skills.

TRAVEL:

  • 15% - 20% between Wolters Kluwer Health office locations (Philadelphia and New York). Domestic travel to conferences, strategic planning meetings, etc. International travel may berequired.

Compensation:

$78,400.00 - $136,950.00 USDThis role is eligible for Bonus.

Compensation range listed is based on primary location of the position. Actual base salary offer is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skills, experience and actual hiring location.
