About the Role:
Antiques and The Arts Weekly, a leading weekly publication in the world of antiques, is seeking a detail-oriented Assistant Editor to work in-house with superior writing and editing skills with knowledge of art and antiques. A qualified candidate will participate in all aspects of producing weekly print and online editions. Photography skills, prior museum, auction house and/or gallery experience are a plus. Some weekend duties and travel are required. 
Responsibilities:
  • Engage with industry contacts, dealers, and auction houses to write reviews on their sales
  • Assist in the editing, proofreading, and fact-checking of articles covering antiques, fine art, and collectibles
  • Coordinate with writers, contributors, and photographers to meet publication deadlines
  • Research and develop story ideas related to auctions, art markets, and antique trends
  • Manage editorial calendars and assist with layout and production workflows
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, English, Art History, or a related field
  • 1–3 years of editorial, writing, or publishing experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of or passion for antiques, fine art, or decorative arts
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with keen attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced weekly publication environment
