Job description

WJAR, Southern New England's News Leader, is seeking a full-time Digital Content Producer! The successful candidate will be responsible for crafting engaging content and social media posts that will drive audience engagement and help bolster WJAR's digital presence. This position will consistently look for and create a diverse range of web content from a variety of sources. This position will also work closely with the Digital Executive Producer, News Director, Assistant News Director, and Creative Services Director.

Responsibilities and Requirements:

  • Must have their pulse on the 24/7 news environment
  • Must be extremely proficient with the use of multiple video-sharing and social media platforms including YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok
  • Creative in cross-promotions between on-air and online
  • Solid news judgment
  • Be a compelling and accurate writer
  • Must be proficient in AP Style
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment
  • Must have strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to execute news strategies and goals in daily digital production
  • Flexibility and on-the-spot problems solving abilities are a must
  • Proficiency with non-linear editing (i.e. Avid) and newsroom systems, such as iNews is a plus
  • May be asked to help on the assignment desk as needed
  • Willing to work weekends, overnights, and holidays
