Who we are looking for

We are seeking a dynamic and seasoned Senior Developer to join our Research Technology team. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in shaping the next generation of State Street's Research platform (a.k.a. State Street Insights), transforming how research content is presented to-and consumed by-our clients.

This position requires deep technical expertise in modern web standards and frontend architectures, strong handson experience in web framework and application design, and advanced knowledge of Generative UI patterns powered by AI.

Why this role is important to us

You will lead the design and development of intelligent, AIaugmented web applications, leveraging modern frontend frameworks, cloudnative architectures, and Generative UI patterns enabled by AI/LLMs.

This role goes well beyond traditional frontend development. You will operate at the intersection of web engineering, UX, and AI, partnering closely with designers, backend engineers, data scientists, and product leaders to deliver highly interactive, adaptive, and insightdriven user experiences.

The ideal candidate is a handson technical leader with:

  • A strong foundation in modern web engineering
  • Deep curiosity about AIenabled user experiences
  • A passion for pushing the boundaries of how users interact with complex data

What you will be responsible for

  • Lead the development of modern, AIdriven web applications, including adaptive and generative user interfaces, primarily using Angular and complementary modern frontend frameworks and libraries.
  • Architect frontend platforms that integrate seamlessly with AI services, including LLMpowered capabilities such as conversational interfaces, intelligent recommendations, dynamic UI composition, and explainable insights.
  • Define and champion best practices for AIaugmented frontend architecture, including state management, UIlayer prompt orchestration, API integration, performance optimization, and responsible AI UX patterns.
  • Partner closely with UX designers, product managers, backend engineers, and data/AI teams to translate business needs and AI capabilities into elegant, intuitive, and productiongrade user experiences.
  • Lead proofs of concept and exploratory experiments across emerging web and AI technologies (e.g., Generative UI, agentdriven workflows, AIassisted visualization), and successfully drive viable ideas into production.
  • Mentor and guide senior and junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and continuous learning in modern web and AIassisted development.
  • Lead and participate in code and design reviews, ensuring high standards of code quality, maintainability, security, accessibility, and performance.
  • Stay current with industry trends in modern web development and applied AI, and proactively influence platform roadmaps and architectural decisions across the organization.

What we value

Skills and experience that will help you succeed in this role:

  • Proven experience designing largescale, modular, and maintainable frontend architectures for enterprisegrade applications.
  • Handson experience or strong working knowledge of AIintegrated web patterns, including:
    • Consuming AI/LLM APIs from frontend applications
    • Conversational or chatbased user interfaces
    • AIassisted data visualization and exploratory UX
    • Dynamic or Generative UI components
  • Strong technical leadership skills, with experience leading initiatives, mentoring engineers, and influencing architecture decisions without relying on formal authority.
  • Solid understanding of APIdriven architectures, cloudnative application design, and secure web development practices.
  • Experience building datarich and visualizationheavy applications (charts, dashboards, analytics) is highly desirable.
  • Exposure to mobile or crossplatform development (iOS, Android, hybrid frameworks) is a plus, though not required.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex technical and AI concepts to both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
  • A strong sense of craftsmanship, accountability, and curiosity, with a passion for continuous learning at the intersection of web and AI.

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree or PhD exposure in AIrelated domains is a plus.
  • 7+ years of experience in modern frontend/web application development, with deep expertise in Angular, React, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS, and working knowledge of framework and component library development.
