Position Summary:
The Data Management Analyst III is responsible for the administration, maintenance, quality, and governance of the firm's core data systems, repositories, and databases. Serving as an advanced-level professional, this role ensures absolute data integrity, availability, security, and operational efficiency across multiple platforms.
The Data Management Analyst III works closely with Information Technology, business stakeholders, risk compliance teams (Conflicts and Records), and external vendors to support data-related initiatives, troubleshoot complex issues, lead data quality efforts, and drive strategic enterprise data management projects. The ideal candidate possesses deep technical expertise, strong analytical skills, and extensive experience managing enterprise data environments within the legal sector.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer and maintain the firm's core data systems, enterprise databases, repositories, and related legal applications.
  • Ensure data accuracy, integrity, consistency, and accessibility across multiple systems and business applications.
  • Lead data quality initiatives by proactively identifying, analyzing, and resolving complex data discrepancies and integrity issues.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor firm-wide data governance standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Manage and support data backup, recovery, retention, and archival processes to ensure business continuity and strict regulatory compliance.
  • Monitor database and data system performance, proactively identifying opportunities for optimization, indexing, and infrastructure improvement.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex data-related issues, collaborating with technical teams, vendors, and business users as necessary.
  • Support enterprise reporting, analytics, and business intelligence initiatives through advanced data extraction, validation, and preparation.
  • Lead data integration, migration, export, and system implementation projects, ensuring data accuracy and seamless deployment.
  • Conduct regular audits and quality assurance reviews of firm data to ensure compliance with legal industry business and regulatory requirements.
  • Author and maintain comprehensive technical documentation related to data processes, mapping standards, and system configurations.
  • Partner with software vendors to evaluate, configure, and optimize specialized tools used for large-scale data migrations.
  • Collaborate directly with the Conflicts and Records departments to ensure data handling processes strictly align with firm risk policies and ethical walls.
  • Partner with cybersecurity and IT infrastructure teams to implement and maintain data security controls, data loss prevention (DLP), and encryption best practices.
  • Drive strategic projects involving legal data architecture, master data management (MDM), and enterprise data governance.
  • Evaluate and integrate emerging legal technology tools (e.g., AI-driven data extraction, automated time-capture) into existing data architectures.
  • Design and manage protocols for onboarding complex, client-provided datasets for litigation support and e-discovery workflows.
  • Standardize and map financial data structures to comply with industry-standard legal billing codes and client billing guidelines.
  • Establish, track, and report on data management health metrics and operational key performance indicators (KPIs) for leadership.

Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Database Management, or a related field is required.
  • Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Fundamentals, Microsoft Azure Database Administrator Associate, Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 to 8 years of experience in data administration, database administration, data governance, data integration or a related field.
  • Experience supporting enterprise-level data systems and managing multiple data environments.
  • Advanced knowledge of database management systems, data architecture concepts, and data administration best practices.
  • Experience with relational databases (SQL Server) and scripting languages (Pyton, PowerShell) for automation.
  • Strong proficiency with SQL and data query tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex data issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Excellent attention to detail with a strong commitment to data accuracy and quality.
  • Knowledge of data governance, data stewardship, and master data management principles.
  • Experience with data backup, recovery, retention, and disaster recovery processes.
  • Understanding of data security controls, privacy requirements, and regulatory compliance standards.
