Become a Senior Manager, Grid Edge Analytics at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this role, you will lead the strategy, development, implementation, and governance of scalable AMI 2.0 analytics solutions that drive grid reliability, demand flexibility, safety, outage response, asset health monitoring, customer insights, and broader grid modernization objectives. You will oversee the full analytics lifecycle, from data acquisition and quality management through solution design, model development, validation, deployment, monitoring, and operational support, ensuring analytics capabilities are accurate, scalable, auditable, and operationally effective.

The Senior Manager, Grid Edge Analytics will define and execute the AMI analytics roadmap, building and scaling both internally developed analytics capabilities and vendor-provided analytics solutions to deliver a comprehensive portfolio of AMI 2.0 use cases. This leader will guide build-versus-buy decisions, balancing business value, vendor capabilities, internal development capability, deployment speed, lifecycle cost, and long-term architectural strategy. Partnering across IT, Grid Operations, Meter Engineering, Cybersecurity, Data & AI, Regulatory, Finance, and external vendors, they will drive the implementation, validation, and operational adoption of AMI analytics solutions, ensuring measurable business and operational value through pilots, deployments, and continuous performance improvement.

Primary Duties
  • Drive AMI 2.0 analytics strategy and governance, ensuring solutions advance grid reliability, demand flexibility, outage response, asset health, safety, customer insights, and measurable business value.
  • Oversee the full analytics lifecycle from data acquisition through model development, validation, deployment, monitoring, and operational support, ensuring scalable and production-ready solutions.
  • Develop and mature internal analytics capabilities while assessing, integrating, and managing vendor-provided analytics technologies to build a comprehensive AMI analytics portfolio.
  • Lead analytics platform and build-versus-buy decisions, balancing business value, vendor capabilities, deployment speed, lifecycle cost, and long-term technology strategy.
  • Coordinate cross-functional implementation and operationalization of AMI analytics with IT, Grid Operations, Meter Engineering, Cybersecurity, Data & AI, Regulatory, Finance, and external vendors.
  • Establish analytics governance frameworks and performance metrics to track adoption, benefits realization, and continuous improvement.
  • Evaluate emerging analytics, AI, and grid-edge technologies to inform future AMI 2.0 capabilities and strategic direction.
  • Ensure data protection and cybersecurity compliance across all analytics and AI systems, processes, and activities.
Responsibilities
  • Leads the development and execution of departmental strategies for AI and advanced analytics, aligning initiatives with broader business goals and technology roadmaps.
  • Manages subordinate managers and technical teams, delegating responsibilities and ensuring delivery of high-quality AI solutions and data-driven insights.
  • Oversees the planning and implementation of AI projects, defining objectives, allocating resources, and managing budgets to meet performance standards.
  • Collaborates with senior stakeholders across the organization to translate business needs into scalable AI initiatives and prioritize departmental efforts.
  • Guides the design and deployment of AI models and data pipelines, ensuring technical rigor, scalability, and compliance with data governance standards.
  • Monitors emerging technologies and industry trends to inform departmental strategy and maintain competitive advantage in AI capabilities.
  • Develops and tracks business cases for AI solutions, ensuring benefit realization and integration into operational processes.
  • Ensures the protection of sensitive data and adherence to cybersecurity protocols in all AI-related systems and activities.
  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Five or more years of experience supervising a team of direct reports and/or project management.
  • Experience with artificial intelligence (AI) applications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in AMI, utility analytics, grid modernization, data platforms, AI/ML, or IT/OT technology environments, preferably within utilities, energy, or critical infrastructure.
  • Experience leading AMI analytics strategy, roadmap development, and governance for grid reliability, outage response, asset health, demand flexibility, customer insights, or grid modernization use case.
  • Proven leadership of analytics, data science, or engineering teams delivering enterprise-scale, production-grade solutions.
  • Experience managing the end-to-end analytics lifecycle, including requirements definition, data acquisition, data quality, model development, validation, deployment, monitoring, governance, and operational support.
  • Ability to convert analytics capabilities into measurable business outcomes, operational KPIs, regulatory value, cost-recovery support, and executive-ready materials.
  • Strong knowledge of data architecture, cloud platforms, APIs, streaming/event-driven data, integration patterns, cybersecurity, privacy, data governance, and auditability in utility or IT/OT environments.
  • Familiarity with advanced grid and customer analytics, including, DER/EV integration, load disaggregation, outage prediction, incipient fault detection, demand flexibility, and grid-edge telemetry.
  • Experience integrating vendor analytics with in-house models, cloud data platforms, dashboards, and operational workflows in hybrid IT/OT environments.
Additional Information
  • This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.

  • The primary work location for this position is Westminster, CA. However, the successful candidate may also be asked to work for an extended amount of time at (alternate work location).
  • Position will require up to 5% traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory.
  • This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
