Job description

Overview
Our AI Experiences, Microsoft Edge team is looking for a Chief of Staff to serve as a force multiplier for the Corporate Vice President, Edge and the Edge Leadership Team. This role sits at the intersection of business operations, people rhythms, product strategy, and leadership effectiveness. The Chief of Staff will lead the translation of strategic priorities into operating mechanisms, decision forums, team rhythms, and measurable follow-through, as well as contribute to product and organizational strategy.
This is a high-leverage role for someone who combines operational excellence with genuine product fluency, business and financial acumen, and sound judgment in complex organizational matters. The person will be a trusted advisor, an execution engine, and a connective force across Edge and its partners.
Microsoft's mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.
Starting January 26, 2026, Microsoft AI (MAI) employees who live within a 50- mile commute of a designated Microsoft office in the U.S. or 25-mile commute of a non-U.S., country-specific location are expected to work from the office at least four days per week. This expectation is subject to local law and may vary by jurisdiction.
By applying to this U.S. Redmond, WA position, you are required to be local to the greater Seattle area and in office 4 days a week.
Responsibilities
  • Translate product and business priorities into execution plans, clear accountability, and cross-team operating mechanisms.
  • Run the Edge leadership operating rhythm: leadership meetings, business reviews, planning checkpoints, decision forums, and follow-through.
  • Connect strategy to how the organization behaves - what it measures, how it prioritizes, how decisions get made - using lightweight mechanisms, trackers, and AI-assisted workflows rather than added process.
  • Drive people and organizational priorities: talent planning, team health, leadership effectiveness, culture and morale, and sensitive people or process issues.
  • Shape executive communications and prepare the CVP and Edge Leadership Team for SLT reviews, Town Halls, kickoffs, and demo showcases with crisp agendas, pre-reads, and decision framing.
  • Lead special projects that demand structured problem solving, cross-functional coordination, and executive synthesis.
  • Own annual and quarterly OPEX, COGS, and headcount planning with Finance and HR, driving investment tradeoffs, forecasting, spend tracking, and cost efficiency while protecting critical bets.
  • Directly manage and have responsibility for a business management and program management team and will be responsible for their growth and delegating responsibility appropriately.

  • Demonstrated experience running operations for a large or complex organization, including planning, budgets, forecasting, and rhythm of business.
  • Experience partnering with senior and executive leaders and driving complex cross-functional programs to completion.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including executive-ready synthesis, narrative building, and meeting facilitation.
  • Strong business and financial acumen, including budget, investment, headcount planning, and forecasting.
  • Ability to understand product strategy, customer needs, business dynamics, and organizational constraints well enough to connect strategy to execution.
  • High judgment, discretion, and maturity in handling sensitive business, people, and organizational topics.
  • Experience working in or adjacent to browser, consumer software, AI, search, platform, or large-scale product organizations.
