Job description

Everforth ECS Federal, LLC is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer to work in our Springfield, VA office.
ECS Federal, LLC is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer (AWS) with Red Hat OpenShift expertise to support Intelligence Community (IC) mission systems, including platforms enabling GEOINT, SIGINT, and all-source analysis.
In this role, you will design, build, and operate secure, scalable, and mission-resilient AWS environments and container platforms (Kubernetes/OpenShift) that power data-intensive analytics and operational workflows. You will work in classified environments to modernize legacy systems, enable cloud-native capabilities, and deliver solutions that directly support national security missions.
As a technical leader, you will drive cloud architecture, DevSecOps, and platform engineering best practices, with a focus on container orchestration and hybrid cloud integration.
Our team is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer with the following roles and responsibilities:
  • Architect and implement secure AWS cloud solutions supporting mission applications and analytic platforms
  • Design, deploy, and manage container platforms using Red Hat OpenShift and Kubernetes (including EKS/OpenShift hybrid patterns)
  • Lead cloud migration and modernization efforts, transitioning legacy systems to cloud-native and containerized architectures
  • Enable data ingestion, processing, and access for large-scale, multi-source intelligence datasets
  • Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform or CloudFormation
  • Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support rapid, secure deployment in classified environments
  • Apply Zero Trust principles and ensure compliance with IC security frameworks (RMF, NIST 800-53, ICD 503)
  • Build and operate multi-account AWS environments aligned to mission and security boundaries
  • Implement monitoring, logging, and observability solutions to support operational awareness and incident response
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and lead proof-of-concept (PoC) efforts to solve mission challenges
  • Collaborate with analysts, data engineers, cybersecurity teams, and mission stakeholders
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leverage DevSecOps and GitOps practices to automate infrastructure and application delivery
  • Deploy and manage containerized workloads using Docker, Kubernetes and Red Hat OpenShift
  • Integrate OpenShift with AWS services (IAM, networking, storage, and security controls)
  • Support hybrid and multi-environment deployments, including on-prem, cloud, and cross-domain solutions
  • Develop technical documentation, architecture designs, and feasibility assessments
  • Establish security, monitoring, and incident response best practices.
  • Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and provide updates on technical progress and risks

  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Active TS/SCI clearance with the ability to obtain CI Poly
  • Must be able to be on-site in a SCIF 4 days a week
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management or similar preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in cloud engineering, DevOps, or platform engineering
  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS (EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, RDS, Lambda, ECS/EKS)
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Hands-on experience with Red Hat OpenShift (deployment, administration, or platform support)
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) (Terraform preferred or CloudFormation)
  • Experience building or maintaining CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or similar)
  • Experience working in classified, IC, or highly regulated environments
  • Solid understanding of cloud networking, security, and identity management
  • Proficiency in scripting/programming (Python, Bash, or similar)
