Job Summary
The University of North Georgia is accepting applications for a Part-Time Library Associate and Evening Desk Supervisor. This position is responsible for the general operation of the library and support of student, faculty, staff, and administrative information needs during evenings and weekend hours at the Gainesville Campus during regular semesters. This position will work 19 hours a week. This position reports to the Library Services Coordinator.

Responsibilities
  • Operate library Monday through Thursday evenings and Sunday afternoons when classes are in session during regular semesters. Schedule may include occasional Saturday hours. Schedule Varies.
  • Greet library patrons and assist students, faculty, staff, and community patrons in person or by telephone with reference, general information, and basic technology-related questions.
  • Provides check-in and check-out of library material and assists with circulation and directional questions. Interprets and applies library policies and procedures and makes referrals as appropriate.
  • Serve as building director during the evening and weekend hours, which includes conducting regular building rounds, managing the security of the building and materials, tracking threatening weather, and alerting appropriate parties to maintenance issues.
  • Supervise student workers in the shelving of materials and other activities. Other duties as assigned by the Library Services Coordinator.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Knowledge of application software (Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Positive, customer-focus in a learning environment. Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent technology troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to exercise initiative and good judgment as a team member.
  • Ability to manage diverse assignments and prioritize duties.
Required Qualifications
  • Associate degree or equivalent number of college hours
  • Must be able to stand push/pull book trucks up to 100 lbs max, lift up to 25 pounds
  • Two years library, front desk/assistant, or retail/sales associate experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in library circulation and supervision preferred

  • The proposed salary range is: $15.87-$17.46 hour.
