Position Type: Half-Time & Quarter-Time
Program Type: AmeriCorps State / National - YouthBuild Project
Program Duration: 10/27/2025 - 07/31/2026

About the Program:
The HANDY AmeriCorps Program engages opportunity youth ages 16-24 in Broward County to achieve economic stability and self-sufficiency through education, workforce training, and national service. Members gain leadership, academic, and career skills while directly contributing to their communities.

Through YouthBuild Workforce Development and Housing Rehabilitation pathways, members participate in hands-on construction, tutoring, life-skills development, and community service projects. Participants earn industry-recognized credentials (OSHA, NCCER, Florida Ready to Work), complete GED coursework if needed, and gain leadership experience.

Member Duties:

  • Provide tutoring, academic coaching, mentoring, and job readiness workshops
  • Gain hands-on experience repairing and renovating affordable homes
  • Half-time members may lead outreach, volunteer coordination, or partner engagement
  • Quarter-time members focus on direct service and skill-building
  • Participate in structured training, life-skills development, and leadership activities
