This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.
Job Description

As part of a hardworking team of Maintenance and Technical Professionals, this position will involve the overseeing of day-to-day tasks of technicians as well as performing scheduling, mentoring, and cross functional team engagement. You will share in the team's impact on all aspects of equipment maintenance, equipment installations, projects, and any other support needed to ensure production operations stay running. We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. The permanent location of this position is Huntsville, Alabama, and passion for our mission and vision is required!

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and steer the collective efforts of all Machine Maintenance Technicians.

  • Enforce area standards and operational rules (includes annual reviews, regular mentoring and disciplinary action).

  • Interface with site leaders within the factory and prioritize repair work based on production schedules and organizational goals.

  • Schedule risk identification and mitigation.

  • Coordinate support organization efforts to minimize production interruptions.

  • Improve area and plant wide safety and efficiency through regular auditing and continuous improvement.

  • Establish and analyze area metrics for trend extrapolation to drive the following:

  • Personnel training and development.

  • Development and implementation of efficiency improvement projects.

  • Root cause analysis and the implementation of corresponding corrective action plans.

  • Reduction of downtime for product and personnel.

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree and/or 10 years' experience performing machine maintenance practices relevant to Blue Origin's manufacturing environment.

  • Minimum of 4 years in a leadership position supervising 10+ technicians.

  • Understanding of preventative maintenance programs, including mechanical and electrical components, troubleshooting methods, and TPM methodology.

  • Lean manufacturing training and experience.

  • Experience monitoring, tracking and continually improving KPI metrics.

  • Experience with applying lean manufacturing principles, efficiency methods required.

  • Proven ability to read and interpret controlled documentation and processes such as: mechanical and electrical drawings, GD&T, schematics, engineering drawings, and parts lists.

  • Experience preferred in fast-paced production environment

  • Able to adapt to constant changing work assignments and fast paced work environment.

  • Proficient with computers, the ability to use MS Office, shop floor management software (ERP) and related programs.

  • Must be willing to work the following shifts as needed; Day shift, Night shift, and Weekends

  • Must be available to work extended hours and weekends as needed.

  • Able to travel for short and extended trips as needed. Up to 10% travel

  • Must be able to lift 35 lbs. unassisted, stoop, bend, crawl, and maneuver in tight spaces.
