Job Description

A Day in the Life 

It is the responsibility of the Dosimetrist to measure and calculate radiation doses and develop optimum arrangement of radiation fields and exposures to treat patients. Generates optimal computerized treatment plans. Works under the supervision of the Department Director in assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, supervising, or documenting the care of patients including those in the following age groups: young adult, adult and geriatric.

Qualifications

What's Required  

  • Graduate from a formal medical dosimetry program accredited by the Joint Review Committee on education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) or foreign equivalent preferred (required for certification effective 2017).
  • Certified by the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board (MDCB)
  • Experience with Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy (IMRT) planning, Volumetric Arc Therapy (VMAT), Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT), 3D planning, brachytherapy, and mold room duties required.
  • Eclipse and Aria experience preferred.
