What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an ECE (Early Childhood Education) Director, and why are they important?

To thrive as an ECE Director, you need a strong background in early childhood education, leadership experience, and typically a bachelor's or master's degree in education or a related field. Familiarity with childcare licensing regulations, curriculum planning software, and child assessment tools is essential. Strong communication, organizational skills, and the ability to lead and motivate staff set exceptional directors apart. These skills ensure high-quality learning environments, regulatory compliance, and effective team management, all of which are crucial for the success of early childhood programs.

What are ECE Directors?

ECE Directors, or Early Childhood Education Directors, are professionals responsible for overseeing the daily operations of early childhood education centers, such as preschools and daycare facilities. They manage staff, develop educational programs, ensure compliance with state regulations, and foster a safe, nurturing environment for young children. ECE Directors also handle administrative tasks, communicate with parents, and work to maintain high standards of learning and care.

How does an ECE Director typically balance administrative duties with supporting classroom staff?

An ECE Director often divides their time between managing the center's administrative responsibilities—such as enrollment, budgeting, and compliance—and providing hands-on leadership to teachers and support staff. This balance requires strong organizational skills and regular communication, as directors are expected to observe classrooms, offer feedback, and ensure curriculum quality while also handling operational tasks. Many directors schedule regular meetings with staff and dedicate specific hours each week to administrative work, which helps maintain a supportive and well-run environment for both educators and children.

What is the difference between Ece Director vs Ece Program Coordinator?

Both roles require relevant credentials, but the director position generally demands more experience and higher-level decision-making skills.

Job description

About Us

WorldKids® School is pioneering a global, immersive approach to early childhood education, serving children from 12 months through Pre-K. At our brand-new, state-of-the-art facility in North Raleigh, we believe that early learning should be an inspiring, developmentally advanced adventure. We are not a traditional childcare facility; we are a premium early childhood education academy. We uniquely blend The Creative Curriculum® (powered by the Teaching Strategies digital platform) with dual-language immersion tracks in Spanish and Mandarin, fostering cognitive development, global citizenship, and multicultural appreciation as part of our core daily early childhood education routine.

The Role

We are seeking an energetic, culturally minded, and deeply passionate Lead ECE Language Immersion Teacher to join our founding early childhood education faculty. In this role, you are the educational anchor of your classroom, serving children exclusively in the 12-month to Pre-K age bracket. You will deliver high-quality early childhood education entirely in Spanish, creating a vibrant, high-trust learning environment where young children feel safe, celebrated, and deeply known. As a professional early childhood educator, you will lead classroom operations, build meaningful developmental partnerships with families, and mentor your Assistant Teacher to ensure a flawless immersion experience.

Our Campus and Neighborhood

We believe that a premium working environment extends beyond the classroom walls. Located in a vibrant, convenient pocket of North Raleigh, our brand-new facility offers unique perks that make your workday seamless, safe, and enjoyable:

  • Safety First Location: Our campus sits right next door to Duke Health's Growing Child Pediatrics and is just moments away from the local fire station, providing unmatched peace of mind and an extra layer of community security for our staff, students, and families.

  • Convenience at Your Fingertips: Enjoy a neighborhood packed with excellent dining options, retail spaces, and a Starbucks right down the street for your morning coffee run or midday break.

  • Commuter-Friendly Access: Easily accessible from major North Raleigh transit routes, making your daily commute straightforward and stress-free.

Core Responsibilities

  • Early Childhood Spanish Immersion Delivery: Conduct daily routines, early learning instructional blocks, and classroom interactions entirely in Spanish to facilitate natural language acquisition during critical early childhood development windows.

  • Advanced ECE Lesson Planning: Utilize The Creative Curriculum® via the Teaching Strategies digital platform to create standards-aligned, intentional lesson plans that integrate Spanish immersion with early childhood education benchmarks.

  • Classroom Management and Leadership: Direct daily classroom operations, maintain strict North Carolina state licensing safety standards, and supervise and guide Assistant Teachers to ensure a cohesive early childhood education dynamic.

  • Child Assessments and Portfolios: Conduct ongoing, data-driven developmental observations and assessments using Teaching Strategies Gold to track and support each child's individual growth.

  • Family Educational Partnership: Maintain warm, professional, and consistent communication with families regarding their child's early childhood education milestones and language progress.

What You Bring

  • Language Fluency: Native or native-equivalent fluency in Spanish is strictly required. Strong conversational English skills are necessary for effective communication with leadership and English-speaking families.

  • Early Childhood Experience: Minimum of 2 to 3 years of experience teaching in a licensed early childhood education facility or premium preschool setting. Previous experience in an immersion or dual-language early childhood education classroom is highly preferred.

  • Curriculum Acumen: Familiarity with The Creative Curriculum® and the Teaching Strategies platform is a major plus. Comfort using technology for daily lesson planning and parent communication is essential.

  • ECE Credentials: Must meet all North Carolina DCDEE lead teacher qualifications (including North Carolina Early Childhood Credentials or equivalent coursework). An Associate or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development is highly preferred.

What We Offer

  • Competitive Compensation: Compensation that is highly competitive for the North Raleigh private preschool and early childhood education market and commensurate with experience.

  • Comprehensive ECE Onboarding: Onboarding training covering the proprietary WorldKids model and advanced Teaching Strategies digital tools to set you up for success.

  • Direct Support: Guidance from an engaged Founding Center Director and an outstanding, dedicated administrative team to assist with compliance and files.

  • Perks and Benefits: Paid Time Off (PTO), professional development support, and a beautiful, brand-new, premium teaching environment.
