USCG Approved Instructor – Summary

The USCG Approved Instructor is responsible for delivering U.S. Coast Guard-approved maritime training courses, including RADAR/ARPA, ECDIS, and other assigned programs. The instructor prepares lesson plans, teaches classroom instruction, administers exams, and evaluates student performance while maintaining a safe, professional learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and deliver maritime training courses.
  • Teach USCG-approved courses such as RADAR/ARPA and ECDIS.
  • Administer and grade examinations.
  • Maintain accurate training records.
  • Support additional training needs as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid USCG 500 Ton License.
  • Dynamic Positioning (DP) Certificate from the Nautical Institute.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and computer skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Lifeboatman and Proficiency in Survival Craft (PSC) endorsements.
  • Experience serving aboard vessels equipped with lifeboats or equivalent military experience.
  • Previous instructional or maritime training experience.
