Description

Emergency and Critical Care Veterinary Technician – Overnight
Location: Buzzards Bay, MA
Cape Cod Veterinary Specialists (CCVS)
Advance Your Skills. Save Lives. Work When It Matters Most.

Are you an experienced veterinary technician ready to take your career to the next level? Do you thrive in high-intensity situations and find fulfillment in making a real difference—especially when others are counting on you most?

At Cape Cod Veterinary Specialists (CCVS) in Buzzards Bay, we’re expanding our emergency and critical care team to better support the pets and families who rely on us throughout Cape Cod and the Islands. As the demand for advanced veterinary care continues to grow, we’re looking for dedicated and skilled Emergency and Critical Care Veterinary Technicians to join our overnight team.
Whether you're seeking full-time or part-time work, this is your opportunity to gain hands-on experience with critical cases, collaborate closely with specialty clinicians, and be part of something truly meaningful—delivering compassionate, high-quality care when it’s needed most.

Why Choose Overnight Shifts in Emergency Medicine?
Working overnight in veterinary ECC is fast-paced, focused, and immensely rewarding. It’s when the most critical cases come through our doors—and when your skills, intuition, and teamwork shine brightest.
  • More Autonomy and Responsibility: Overnight technicians often take on a larger role in patient care, decision-making, and support for incoming emergencies.
  • Deeper Case Exposure: From GDVs and toxicities to trauma and respiratory failure—you’ll see it all. These shifts offer unmatched opportunities for skill-building and clinical growth.
  • Team Culture: Smaller, more cohesive overnight teams build strong bonds and rely on each other in ways that cultivate trust, respect, and camaraderie.
  • Work-Life Balance: Enjoy quieter days for personal appointments, family time, or just a break from the typical 9–5 rhythm.
What You'll Do

As a member of our ECC nursing team, you’ll be integral to managing critically ill or injured patients through every step of their care. You will:
  • Perform emergency triage and obtain vitals
  • Assist in stabilization and intensive care procedures
  • Administer treatments, medications, and fluid therapy
  • Monitor pain, vitals, and clinical trends in real-time
  • Assist in anesthesia and emergency surgical prep
  • Communicate directly with doctors, support teams, and families
  • Use advanced EMR systems for efficient and accurate patient tracking

What We're Looking For

  • Credentialed technician (CVT, LVT, RVT) or eligibility within 6 months
  • Minimum 2 years of ECC or emergency nursing experience
  • VTS (ECC) candidates encouraged to apply
  • RECOVER certified or interest in obtaining certification
  • Strong interpersonal, technical, and critical thinking skills
  • Positive, calm demeanor in fast-changing situations

What We Offer

  • Competitive pay: $22-$32
    • Most new hires can expect an offer based on experience, expertise, and alignment with comparable positions within the hospital, typically between the minimum and the midpoint of the range.
  • Overnight shift differential beginning after 10 PM
  • Full-time schedule is 4 shifts on, 3 days off with a holiday shift rotation
  • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid time off and holidays
  • Uniform allowance
  • Continuing education support, including a VTS training track
  • Trupanion pet insurance for two pets
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
  • Veterinary Social Worker on site for staff members

Why CCVS?
Cape Cod Veterinary Specialists is the Cape’s only 24/7 emergency and specialty hospital, serving the entire region with a growing team of over 20 specialists across disciplines including Surgery, Critical Care, Internal Medicine, and more. In our Buzzards Bay location, you’ll be surrounded by experienced ECC doctors and technicians who are passionate about teaching, mentoring, and delivering excellent care—day or night.

Make a Greater Impact
If you’re ready to join a place where your skills matter, your growth is supported, and your compassion shines in every shift, we’d love to meet you.

Apply today to become a full-time or part-time Overnight ECC Technician at Cape Cod Veterinary Specialists in Buzzards Bay.
