What is an early stage startup?

An Early Stage Startup job typically involves working at a newly founded company that is still developing its product, market fit, and business model. Employees in these roles often wear multiple hats, taking on various responsibilities across product development, marketing, sales, and operations. The environment is fast-paced, resource-constrained, and requires adaptability, creativity, and problem-solving skills. Unlike established companies, early startups may offer more autonomy and the opportunity to make a significant impact. However, they also come with higher risks, including job instability and evolving role definitions.

What are the typical challenges faced when working at an early stage startup?

Working at an early stage startup often means dealing with ambiguity, shifting priorities, and limited resources, which can be both exciting and demanding. Employees are usually expected to take on diverse responsibilities and quickly adapt to changing business needs as the company evolves. The work environment is usually fast-paced and highly collaborative, requiring strong initiative and a willingness to learn new skills on the fly. While this can be challenging, it also offers tremendous opportunities for hands-on experience, rapid professional growth, and direct impact on the company's success.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in an early stage startup, and why are they important?

To thrive in an early stage startup, you need a versatile skill set that includes entrepreneurship, adaptability, and problem-solving, often supported by experience in product development or business operations. Familiarity with tools like project management platforms (e.g., Trello, Asana), basic accounting software, and data analytics solutions is valuable. Excellent communication, resilience, and a collaborative spirit help individuals navigate the dynamic and uncertain environment. These skills are crucial in early stage startups because success depends on agility, wearing multiple hats, and quickly iterating on ideas to seize new opportunities.

How to get a job at an early stage startup?

To get a job at an early stage startup, focus on demonstrating versatility, problem-solving skills, and a proactive attitude. Tailor your resume to highlight relevant experience, network with founders or team members, and be prepared for a fast-paced, flexible work environment that values adaptability and initiative.

Job description

About Searchable

Weโ€™re building the future of AI-powered search visibility. As platforms like ChatGPT and emerging AI systems reshape how people discover information, we help brands understand and optimize their presence in this new landscape. Backed by leading investors, weโ€™re at a pivotal stage: strong product, early traction, and a rapidly growing market opportunity.

The Role

Weโ€™re looking for an Account Executive to own and close high-impact deals across the U.S. market. This is a role for someone who has been in the trenches, someone who understands how to run complex sales cycles, engage senior stakeholders, and consistently close mid-market and enterprise deals. Youโ€™ll play a key role in scaling revenue, working closely with leadership, SDRs, and marketing to convert pipeline into meaningful growth.

What Youโ€™ll Do
  • Own mid-market and enterprise new business across the U.S. from first touch to close
  • Run full-cycle sales processes including discovery, demos, negotiation, and closing
  • Consistently hit and exceed quota targets
  • Lead high-stakes conversations with VP and C-suite stakeholders
  • Navigate complex, multi-threaded deals involving multiple decision-makers
  • Handle procurement, legal, and commercial negotiations with confidence
  • Build and manage a healthy, qualified pipeline (inbound + outbound support)
  • Develop and execute strategic account plans for key prospects
  • Apply rigorous qualification frameworks to maintain pipeline quality and forecast accuracy
  • Partner with SDRs and Marketing on pipeline generation and ICP targeting
  • Work closely with leadership to refine messaging and GTM strategy
  • Share market and customer insights to inform product and positioning
About You

Weโ€™re looking for someone who has done this beforeโ€”and done it well:

  • Proven track record closing mid-market and enterprise SaaS deals in the U.S.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. buyer behavior and sales cycles
  • Skilled at running full-cycle sales processes independently
  • Confident engaging and influencing senior stakeholders
  • Strong commercial instincts and deal-closing ability
  • Strategic thinker who can map accounts and prioritize effectively
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-moving, high-growth environment
Requirements
  • 5+ years of B2B SaaS sales experience, with a strong track record of quota attainment.
  • Previously a founding AE or early stage start-up hire
  • Experience selling into enterprise brands, agencies, marketing teams, SEO teams, growth teams, or digital teams.
  • Experience in an early-stage startup or category-creation environment.
  • Proven ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles.
  • Strong discovery, demo, negotiation, and closing skills.
  • Experience building outbound pipeline and converting strategic accounts.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with both executive and technical or practitioner-level stakeholders.
  • Strong commercial judgment and comfort selling value, not just features.
  • Ability to work closely with founders, product, marketing, and customer success.
Strong Signals
  • Experience in AI, SaaS, or high-growth startup environments
  • Experience with multi-stakeholder enterprise deals
  • Consistent history of quota attainment or overachievement
  • Ability to bring a point of view to sales conversations (not just demo-driven selling)
Location

Salt Lake City, Utah (United States)

Compensation
  • Equity participation
  • Compelling above-market salary (DOE) + uncapped commission
Benefits
  • + flexible working
