Job description

This is an in-office role based in Spartanburg, SC
OTO Development is pleased to announce a wonderful opportunity for a Software Developer (Early Career)
About the Role
We're looking for an early-career software developer who's comfortable rolling up their sleeves and working closely with stakeholders to build tools that make us better. OTO develops and operates hotels across the continental United States with a wide variety of workflows and tasks ripe for automation. You'll work in cross functional teams to design and build lightweight internal applications and workflow automations, using modern AI-assisted coding tools to move fast without cutting corners. This isn't a role where you're handed a fully-scoped ticket and told exactly what to build - you'll need curiosity, good judgment, and a willingness to learn how a multi-entity hospitality business runs.
What will you be doing most days?
  • Building and maintaining internal tools and automations that solve real back-office problems in above property support operations.
  • Using AI-assisted development tools as part of your everyday workflow - to write code, troubleshoot, and work more effectively - while still owning the quality and correctness of what you deliver.
  • Working directly with corporate and property stakeholders to understand inefficiencies and figure out quick and reliable automations.
  • Fixing bugs, responding to feedback, and iterating on tools already delivered.
  • Documenting what you build clearly enough that someone else on the team could pick it up.
  • Using good judgment about where AI is suitable, properly handling proprietary information, and being responsible for the accuracy and correctness of output.

What are the requirements for this position?
  • 1-3 years of software development experience - new grads, bootcamp grads, and self-taught developers with a portfolio are welcome to apply.
  • Working proficiency in at least one modern programming language (Python, JavaScript,TypeScript, or similar).
  • Real, hands-on experience using AI coding tools like Claude, ChatGPT, or GitHub Copilot - not just curiosity about them.
  • . Ability to review and test AI-Generated code
  • Basic understanding of databases, SQL, and how applications talk to each other through APIs.
  • Good verbal and written communication - you'll need to explain technical work to people who aren't technical.
  • A resourceful, self-directed streak; our team is lean, priorities shift, and documentation isn't always perfect.

Physical Requirements for this Position
You must be able to walk and stand for extended periods of time as the job dictates.
Travel Requirements
This position requires minimal travel. Occasional trips to a property may be needed to gather requirements or support a tool rollout, but regular travel is not part of the role.
