Job description

Department: Counseling Services

Location: 3445 N Central Ave. Chicago, Illinois 60634

Schedule:Schedule varies based on client need; some evening and weekend hours may be needed. This is a primarily community-based position with some in-office time.

Salary: Starting at $50,000 to 58,000 (based on qualifications and experience)

Position Overview:

Under the direction of the Program Manager, the MST Therapist provides direct home-based services to clients, accomplished through family counseling, outreach in the community, collaboration with referral sources, schools, area police departments, probation services, and other community agencies, in accordance with the adaptation model assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:

Assessment: Conduct initial MST assessments with clients, including review of referral information, identifying and engaging key participants, and identifying strengths and weaknesses of program participants while analyzing the fit of problem behaviors. Other assessment tools may apply depending on the adaptation of the model. Assessment tools may include IM+CANS and YASI assessments.

    Engagement: Engage primary caregiver, social networks, and other key participants in active change-oriented treatment by identifying and overcoming barriers to engagement.

      Processes: Implement a problem conceptualization, treatment planning, intervention implementation, outcome review and strategy revision procedure using the MST Analytic Process.

        Documentation: Maintain clear and concise documentation of treatment efforts that promote peer and supervisory review and feedback that demonstrate compliance with the nine MST principles and the MST Analytic Process. Retain detailed case notes in the EHR system. Maintain notes in compliance with Medicaid if applicable.

          Collaboration: Collaborate with all relevant systems and key participants within each system to ensure their buy-in and cooperation throughout the treatment process.

          Clinical treatment: Provide direct clinical treatment to program participants using methods compatible with model adherence and applicable adaptation.

          Program Services: Assist in the planning, development, and evaluation of program services.

            Supervision: Participate in team supervision, individual supervision, and consultation meetings with model experts weekly or as needed.

            Interagency relationships: Collaborate with co-workers, both in the same location and in other offices, and participate in internal agency programs to provide the most comprehensive client services possible.

              Quality Improvement: Participate in the agency's ongoing quality improvement efforts.

                Diversity/Cultural Awareness: Ability to work effectively with diverse communities and constituencies.

                HIPAA: Full access to client information. Confidentiality must be maintained at all times.

                QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

                • A master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or Marriage/Family Therapy is required, or a Bachelor's degree and significant clinical experience.
                • Some experience/internship working with at-risk youth and/or families preferred, particularly in juvenile justice, child welfare, psychiatric, or residential settings preferred.
                • A valid driver's license and daily access to own vehicle required.
                • Bilingual Spanish is a plus!
