plaintext JOB SUMMARY The Pharmacist Inpatient is responsible for ensuring the safe and effective dispensing of medications, providing drug information services, and participating in medication use policy development and implementation. This role involves direct patient care activities and collaboration with healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes. Key Responsibilities - Dispense medications accurately and efficiently, ensuring compliance with all legal and institutional policies. - Review and interpret physician orders to ensure appropriateness of drug therapy, dosage, route, and duration. - Provide drug information and education to physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals. - Monitor patient medication therapy for potential adverse drug reactions and drug interactions. - Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and patient care conferences. - Accurately document all pharmaceutical interventions and patient care activities. - Maintain professional competency through continuing education and participation in professional organizations. - Contribute to medication safety initiatives and formulary management. Schedule / Shift - Block schedule: 7 days on, 7 days off. - Initial shift: Night shift, 20:00 - 06:30. - Transition to day shift for FMLA coverage from July/August timeframe through 1/13/2027. Required Qualifications - Current Texas Pharmacist license. - Hospital experience is required. - At least some exposure to pediatrics. Experience - Prior experience in hospital pharmacy setting is mandatory. - Previous experience with pediatric patients is required. Certifications - Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is typically required. Skills - Proficient in medication dispensing and compounding. - Strong knowledge of pharmacology and therapeutics. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team. - Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. - Attention to detail and accuracy. EMR / Systems - Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems and pharmacy information systems is expected. Patient Population - Primarily pediatric patients. Unit / Specialty - Inpatient Pharmacy services within a Children's Hospital / Level II Pediatric Trauma Center setting. Floating / On-Call - Will not float between units. - On-call is not required. - Weekends are required every other weekend. Education: Masters Degree
