About the role
The Civil Structural Engineer plays a critical role in the design, analysis, and construction oversight of nuclear power plant structures. This position is responsible for preparing detailed structural calculations, reviewing designs for constructability, and providing hands-on engineering support for concrete and steel structures in the field. The ideal candidate will bring a strong command of industry codes and standards-including ACI, AISC, and ASME-and a commitment to ensuring the highest levels of safety, quality, and regulatory compliance throughout all phases of the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities
  • Perform structural analysis for steel and concrete including seismic analysis, shield, and anchoring systems.
  • Interface with field crews, design engineers, quality assurance, and subcontractors to coordinate technical solutions and resolve issues.
  • Troubleshoot, resolve field issues, and provide technical justifications for design changes during fabrication and assembly.
  • Prepare and review design drawings, specifications, technical reports, and calculations.
  • Ensure compliance with nuclear safety regulations, codes, and standards (e.g., IBC, ACI, AISC, ASCE 7).
  • Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams (mechanical, electrical, construction, procurement, vendors) and conduct site walkdowns to inspect, verify, and approve installations.
  • Execute independent engineering tasks and assume technical responsibility for assigned projects
  • Review and verify engineering work performed by others, ensuring accuracy and adherence to design standards.
  • Resolve technical issues (typically non-complex), justify design decisions, and interpret engineering data
  • Originate and validate engineering deliverables including drawings, design reviews, change control documents, and calculation notes

Experience
  • BS degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET accredited university
  • 8+ years of experience
  • Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g. STAAD.Pro, GT STRUDL, ANSYS) and CAD/ED modeling tools (AutoCAD, Tekla)
  • Familiarity with steel fabrication processes, design for fabrication methods, support construction/installation activities for major steel structures
  • Construction Experience
  • Ability for occasional travel to plant sites

Estimated Starting Salary RangeThe estimated starting salary range for this role is $150,000 - $173,000 annually less applicable withholdings and deductions, paid on a bi-weekly basis. The actual salary offered may vary based on relevant factors as determined in the Company's discretion, which may include experience, qualifications, tenure, skill set, availability of qualified candidates, geographic location, certifications held, and other criteria deemed pertinent to the particular role.
