Big-D Construction, a National General Contractor of award-winning projects built by exceptional people, has a Curriculum Developer and Instructional Designer opportunity located in Salt Lake City, UT.

This position is a valued part of the Learning and Development team supporting the corporate operations, business units and learning initiatives across Big-D Companies. We are looking for a passionate and collaborative team player that can partner with key stakeholders and subject matter experts to design and support the development of engaging programming. This individual will assess, design, develop, implement and revise professional development content to meet the needs of the organization by creating relevant content, eLearning courses and research new educational material while understanding current and future trends within adult learning theory. 

Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Instructional Design, HR, Education or related business equivalent is required. 
  • Must have 3+ years experience developing training, instructional design, in a business setting.

 Skills

  • Must have proven experience developing curriculum from conception to delivery. 
  • Experience with eLearning authoring tools is required (i.e. Articulate, Captivate, Lectora, Storyline, Camtasia, Adobe Suite).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Must be self-driven, detail oriented and able to work independently
  • Must be proficient in MS Office Suite
  • Understanding of adult learning theory and instructional design models
  • Passionate about learning and the development of people

Duties, Responsibilities and Expectations (other duties may be assigned to meet business needs)

  • Define, document and assist in evaluating effectiveness of learning objectives. 
  • Assists and creates engaging content and instructional material such as learning curriculum, participant guides, training manuals, eLearning/digital content and other needed material to optimize learning outcomes focused on the learner.
  • Builds strong partnerships while consulting with subject matter experts to coordinate the best and most appropriate method and delivery of innovative learning content applicable to day-to-day operations. 
  • Administration and support of the learning management system such as content management and organization, user training and adoption with the end foal of optimizing the employee experience and measurement of effectiveness and completion rates.  
  • Effectively communicate conceptual ideas and development expertise to internal and external teams. 
  • Ensure timely completion of projects by meeting deadlines and milestones while working both independently and collaboratively within the team.
  • Assist where needed on special assignments and other projects that profess the company to achieve the foals for the learning and development department.
