Job description

The Program Coordinator, Combat Cancer, supports the Combat Cancer Learning Management System by providing essential operational, administrative, and data management services. Working under the direction of the Program Manager, the Coordinator helps to provide feedback and assure adherence to community outreach plans, supports subject matter experts to deliver highly engaging content, generate ideas on public health messaging for outreach, and create data visualizations and reports. This role contributes to strengthening statewide capacity, supporting hubandspoke implementation, and improving access to highquality cancer care in rural Iowa.

Strategic & Operational Support

         Identify innovative outreach approaches (e.g., community partnerships, culturally tailored messaging, mobile outreach) to increase participation in screening events

         Develop comprehensive monthly and annual reports summarizing program performance, outreach effectiveness, and recommendations for future enhancements

         Review and help generate learning plans and provide feedback to improve the learning sessions.

         Monitor adherence to approved outreach plans, ensuring implementation of project aligns with timelines, goals, and compliance expectations

         Provide administrative support for the program, including organizing and facilitating meetings, events, and trainings

 Program Implementation & Project Coordination

         Review and evaluate outreach plans provide actionable feedback to strengthen learning sessions, strategy, alignment, and effectiveness of proposed activities

         Monitor and ensure adherence to approved outreach plans, including oversight implementation, timelines, and compliance expectations

         Analyze learning data to identify gaps, successes, and opportunities for program improvement

        Grant Administration & Compliance

         Identify and promote innovative outreach approaches (e.g., community partnerships, responsive messaging, mobile engagement) to increase participation

         Verify that all required data (e.g., number of screenings, counties served, demographics) is collected

         Ensure compliance with contract/grant terms in accordance with University policies and applicable state and federal regulations

         Track, monitor, and evaluate program outreach, data collection, and reporting to ensure quality and compliance

         Organize and maintain documentation to support audit readiness, reporting requirements, and program transparency

 Information Management

         Track and organize program data received from LMS for consistency, completeness, and reporting readiness

         Create data visualizations (charts, dashboards, summaries) to communicate key performance indicators, trends, and outreach impact effectively

         Maintain organized documentation of learning plans, outreach, compliance tracking, and reporting outputs program transparency

         Maintain and manage program database(s), ensuring accurate, timely, and organized data entry, storage, and retrieval

         Coordinate the collection, preparation, and validation of data from multiple sites; assure completeness and consistency across submissions

         Develop comprehensive monthly and annual reports summarizing program metrics, outcomes, and recommendations

 Communications & Stakeholder Support

         Develop and recommend targeted public health messaging strategies to effectively engage hard-to-reach and underserved populations in screening initiatives

         Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure reporting outputs meet program, funder, and compliance requirements

         Serve as local site coordinator, supporting implementation of program activities and acting as a liaison among stakeholders

         Respond to internal and external inquiries in a timely and professional manner

         Conduct outreach activities and support stakeholder engagement efforts

         Maintain and update website content to reflect current program information and resources

         Assist with external communications, ensuring messaging aligns with program goals and compliance guidelines

Required: 

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public health, business, public policy, or related field or the equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 1 year of experience in program support roles.
  • Previous training and experience in developing and delivering public health learning sessions.
  • Previous experience maintaining and updating website content.
  • Experience collecting, validating, analyzing, and synthesizing data from multiple sources to prepare reports, monitor program performance, evaluate outcomes, and support compliance.
  • Excellent written, verbal interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel), including previous experience creating data visualizations and ensuring efficient data storage and retrieval.
  • Demonstrated experience working effectively in a welcoming and respectful workplace environment. 
  • Willingness to travel statewide.
  • Valid driver's license plus the ability to meet the University of Iowa Fleet Safety program driving standards.

Desired:

  • Master's degree in public health or related field.
  • Knowledge of health care delivery systems or rural health partnerships.
  • Experience with data dashboards or project management tools.
  • Knowledge of University policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Experience with overseeing and organizing events.

Position and Application Details:

This position is eligible for on campus, hybrid within Iowa and will require a work arrangement form to be completed upon the start of your employment. Per policy, work arrangements will be reviewed annually and must comply with the remote work program and related policies and employee travel policy when working at a remote location.
