Education, Experience and Skill Requirements
• 2 years General office/Clerical and or Customer Service experience with intermediate computer, Microsoft applications skills required. Odyssey Case Manager/E-File Texas experience preferred.
  • Justice Court Clerk Certification - Level 1 Required
• Ability to interact and communicate with individuals of diverse backgrounds, Public, and other staff members.
• Must be able to work well in high pressured, fast-paced and stressful situations, in a calm and professional manner.
• Will be utilized/cross trained in any department of the Justice Court including Civil or Criminal and must have the ability to multitask and learn several different job functions.
• Ability to work well under pressure with constant interruptions
• Must be willing to work in a team setting with a positive attitude as well as independently.
• Must be punctual, dependable, able to meet attendance requirements and work any schedule assigned.
• Self-starter skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines; adapt and cope with fast-paced office
• Ability to learn established office routines and policies from written instructions, inclusive of financial and mathematical tasks
  • Must have the ability to work in person, not remote.

Primary Job Duties
• Customer service / Assist citizens with Court and County Government procedures
• Process civil/criminal data entry whether submitted by mail, in person, e-mail, fax, or E-file from case initiation to disposition (case processing)
• Performs detailed legal procedures associated with the receipt, review, processing and maintenance of court documents and case files
• Handling cash and card payments associated with filings
• Utilizes legal reference materials to perform research related to current laws and procedures
• Assist Judge during hearings with documents and case files
• Issue court appearances/hearing notices to parties.
• Prepare dockets ,judgments and orders from Court from start to finish
• Prepares varied legal documents including citations, writs, motions, subpoenas, orders, judgments and abstract of judgments.
• Handling high phone call volumes
• Any other duties as assigned by Judge, Justice Court Manager
After receiving a conditional offer of employment, applicant must pass a drug screen (1/2 cost = $20.00, responsibility of applicant) and may need a physical agility test (1/2 cost = $22.50, responsibility of applicant) before becoming an employee of Montgomery County.
