Description:

The Automotive Body Prepper plays a crucial role in preparing vehicles for paint, cosmetic repair, or final detailing. This includes sanding, taping, masking, buffing, and ensuring surfaces are clean and properly prepped to meet high-quality standards.

Requirements:

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Sand and feather automotive surfaces for paint application
  • Mask and tape vehicles accurately to protect non-painted areas
  • Clean panels thoroughly to ensure surface readiness
  • Apply primers, sealers, or adhesion promoters as directed
  • Move vehicles in and out of prep/paint booths and staging areas
  • Inspect body panels for imperfections or contamination prior to paint
  • Assist painters and body technicians with repair flow
  • Maintain cleanliness of work area, tools, and safety equipment
  • Follow all company safety and quality standards

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in auto body prep, collision repair, or reconditioning preferred
  • Familiarity with sanding blocks, DA sanders, masking materials, and prep chemicals
  • Understanding of automotive paint processes is a plus
  • Must be dependable, detail-focused, and a team player
  • Valid driverโ€™s license and clean driving record required
  • 18 years of age or older

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working in dealership or high-volume recon settings
  • Knowledge of PDR, buffing, or detailing is a plus
  • I-CAR or ASE certification helpful but not required

Education:

  • Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent
