This role will be located at one of Discovery Land Company's locations: Dune Deck Beach Club, set in Westhampton Beach, New York.
Dune Deck Beach Club is seeking a a seasonal Host/Hostess to join the Food and Beverage Service Department. This position will be available until September 30, 2026.
The Host/Hostess is responsible for the first impression when members and guests walk into our dining facilities, and has the distinct ability to have a direct impact on the experience of our members and guests. The Host/Hostess will assist members with their reservations, taking them to their assigned tables, and assisting the Food and Beverage staff as needed. In this role, you will be part of creating the Discovery Land Company experience for our members and fellow employees.
Key Responsibilities
  • Welcome members and guests at the door with a smile and warm greeting, using guest name whenever possible.
  • Maintain eye contact and correct posture.
  • Manage reservations and walk-in's in an organized fashion.
  • Schedule reservations over the phone, email, or in person requests.
  • Ensure all members and guests with reservations have their required table before arrival.
  • Lead guest to appropriate table according to number of guest.
  • Thank guests and members for their patronage and invite them to return.
  • Assist is seeing all club policy, procedures, and standards are being met by all staff.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least six (6) months of experience in a fine-dining or high-volume environment at a high-end restaurant, resort, or private club.
  • Knowledge of local food safety standards; possesses or can obtain State Food Safety Certificate.
  • Knowledgeable of food and beverage operations.
  • Extraordinary attention to detail, quality and service.

Additional Requirements
  • Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to deliver service to members, guests, and team members.
  • Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Long hours may be required due to business demands.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to stay calm and focused during the busiest of times.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; additional languages preferred.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours, and lifting and carrying items sometimes greater than fifty (50) pounds.
  • Flexibility and ability to pivot to new projects and a desire to work in a fast-paced environment.
