Job description

Lone Mountain Ranch

Located in Big Sky, Montana, Lone Mountain Ranch is a historic guest ranch situated on 148 acres in the heart of the Greater Yellowstone ecosystem. First homesteaded in 1915, the Ranch has grown into one of the premier guest ranch destinations in the American West, offering a unique blend of authentic hospitality, rich history, thoughtful luxury, and year-round outdoor adventure.

The property features 25 hand-hewn cabins, the renowned Horn & Cantle Restaurant and Saloon, the Ranch Hall, the Outpost, equestrian facilities, Nordic ski trails, event spaces, and expansive access to the surrounding Montana landscape. Lone Mountain Ranch is proud to be recognized as a National Geographic Unique Lodge of the World, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and a longtime member of the Dude Ranchers' Association.

Our team is passionate about creating genuine and memorable experiences for our guests while fostering a workplace culture centered around hospitality, professionalism, teamwork, and respect for the history and spirit of the Ranch.

Craft Memorable Evenings Through Exceptional Cuisine.

Dinner is one of the signature experiences at Lone Mountain Ranch, and every plate that leaves the kitchen helps create lasting memories for our guests. As a PM Line Cook, you'll be part of a talented culinary team preparing thoughtfully crafted meals with precision, consistency, and care.

This role is perfect for someone who enjoys the energy of evening service, takes pride in their craft, and thrives in a collaborative kitchen where teamwork and quality are just as important as speed.

What You'll Do

  • Prepare and execute dinner menu items according to established recipes and quality standards.
  • Maintain organized, well-stocked line stations throughout service.
  • Complete daily prep work to ensure readiness for dinner service and future meal periods.
  • Monitor food quality, presentation, and temperatures throughout service.
  • Prepare meals that accommodate dietary restrictions, allergies, and special requests.
  • Work collaboratively with servers and fellow kitchen team members to deliver timely, accurate meals.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment.
  • Complete nightly closing duties and prepare stations for the following day's service.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards.
  • Contribute to a positive, professional, and team-oriented kitchen culture.

Who Thrives Here

This role is a great fit for someone who:

  • Enjoys the fast pace and teamwork of dinner service.
  • Takes pride in consistency, craftsmanship, and presentation.
  • Stays calm and organized during busy shifts.
  • Communicates well and supports teammates whenever needed.
  • Wants to continue growing their culinary skills while creating memorable guest experiences.

What You'll Bring

  • Previous culinary experience in a restaurant, resort, lodge, or hospitality setting preferred.
  • Experience in high-volume or upscale dinner service is a plus.
  • Food Handler Certification or the ability to obtain one upon hire.
  • Strong knife skills and a solid understanding of fundamental culinary techniques.
  • Ability to remain organized and composed during fast-paced dinner service.
  • Attention to detail with a commitment to food quality, consistency, and presentation.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative kitchen team.
  • A positive attitude and passion for creating exceptional guest dining experiences.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
