About This Role

Johnson Controls is a global leader in thermal management, energy efficiency, and decarbonization. We help customers use energy more productively and reduce carbon emissions across industries such as data centers, healthcare, and advanced manufacturing.

What you’ll do

As a Software Engineer, Device, you will develop robust on‑device software solutions for our Stack Forging™ thermal components and cooling loop products. You will drive the development of new features and help set standards that expand the capabilities of our processes.

How you will do it
  • Work on motion planning and machine coordination software in a production code environment using Python and TypeScript.
  • Test, deploy, and maintain production code on manufacturing equipment.
  • Develop automation solutions to reduce operator time, detect failures, and increase reliability.
  • Collaborate with in‑house teams to translate R&D learnings into improved part success, geometry, and processing performance.
  • Engage across functions to push the envelope of what is possible on our equipment.
  • Stay current with research and trends in 3D printing, motion planning, and controls.
What you will need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, or related field.
  • 3+ years of industry experience building, testing, and shipping high‑quality production code.
  • Experience with industrial machines and scaling or managing fleets of electromechanical systems.
  • Proficiency with Python.
  • Experience with computer vision, drivers, and/or control cabinet build‑outs.
  • Comfortable in a fast‑paced environment with a bias toward action and solutions.
  • Ability to balance long‑term strategic thinking with short‑term focus on details.

Hiring Salary Range

$70,000 – $110,000 (Salary determined by education, experience, skill, and market alignment).
