What you will do

Under general direction, you will be responsible for the design, configuration, and operation of complete building control systems with a focus on HVAC controls. You will account for field teams on quality, timeliness, and efficiency, develop complex software, commission systems, and provide detailed information and submittals to customers and subcontractors.

  • Design and configure technically complex building control systems as defined by contract documents.
  • Create flow diagrams, sequence of operations, bill of material, network layouts, and electrical schematics.
  • Develop and test software programs necessary to operate the system according to project requirements.
  • Coordinate the creation of drawings and equipment schedules for submittals and installation.
  • Select, order, and track delivery of materials for assigned projects.
  • Coordinate factory‑mounting processes to meet factory and project schedules.
  • Assist in loading and commissioning all system and network‑level controllers.
  • Validate system functionality and troubleshoot problems with subcontractors and other trades.
  • Provide field change information for as‑built drawings and software.
  • Keep management and partners informed of job progress and issues.
  • Collect and input data to track project progress using collaborative dashboards.
  • Assist in performing site‑specific training for owner/operator on the building control system.
  • Participate in release meetings with the project field team.
  • Execute value engineering to provide cost‑effective results while maintaining customer satisfaction.
  • Coordinate with project owners to determine engineering and field execution responsibilities.
  • Provide work directions to Systems Design Assistants and other assigned project resources.
  • Adhere to safety standards and maintain a high regard for employee and subcontractor safety.
What we look for

Required qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering with a minimum of three years of experience, or an associate degree in a related technical field with five years of relevant work experience; or equivalent experience as a commercial HVAC Controls Technician, Engineer, or Installer.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the HVAC industry, control theory, automatic temperature controls, building automation systems, and other building subsystems from design, installation, and/or commissioning perspectives.
  • Proficiency in integrating low‑voltage building subsystems using industry protocols (LON, BacNet, etc.).
  • Ability to communicate technical knowledge to a non‑technical audience.
  • Advanced computer skills, particularly drafting tools.
  • Willingness to travel to job sites outside the area as needed.

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $68,000 – $95,000 (salary determined by the candidate’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, internal equity, and market data).
