JOB TITLE: Life Skills Home Lead Instructor - (SGL)
DEPARTMENT: Residential SGL
SUPERVISOR'S TITLE: Residential Manager
POSITIONS SUPERVISED: None
JOB STATUS: Full Time, Non-Exempt
SCHEDULE: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday: 2pm to 8pm; Saturday and Sunday: 8am to 2pm
Summary:
Provide leadership and direct support in a residential setting for individuals with developmental disabilities. This role focuses on promoting independence, ensuring health and safety, supporting daily living skills, and leading staff and home operations on second shift while maintaining a positive and structured home environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive home environment for residents
Provide instruction and support in daily living skills, including social skills, self-care, domestic tasks, and money management
Plan and implement recreational and leisure activities, including weekend programming
Support development and implementation of Individual Service Plans (ISP) and Person-Centered Plans
Document resident progress toward goals and maintain accurate records
Assist with household management tasks and ensure completion of assigned duties per maintenance checklists
Support and assist with staff scheduling and home coverage needs
Mentor and train new Life Skills Instructors during their onboarding period
Lead and support second shift operations within the home
Cover open shifts as needed
Promote independence, personal choice, and community involvement for residents
Qualifications & Skills:
Strong leadership and mentoring skills
Ability to teach and reinforce daily living skills effectively
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
Ability to build professional, respectful relationships with residents and staff
Strong organizational and documentation skills
Ability to work independently and manage residential operations
Physical & Work Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds or more
Ability to assist residents with physical and daily living needs
Ability to remain active throughout shift (standing, walking, bending, lifting)
Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance required
Ability to travel for trainings, meetings, and transportation needs
Certifications & Training Requirements:
Adult CPR and First Aid certification
Preventing Disease Transmission (Bloodborne Pathogens) certification
Core A & B Medication Training
CRT (Certified Restraint Training) certification

Education/Experience Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
One year of experience in a residential setting serving individuals with disabilities preferred.
