Job Summary

The DSP Medical Appointment Specialist plays an important role in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities in their daily lives while also helping coordinate and attend medical appointments. In this role, you'll help ensure individuals are prepared, supported, and advocated for before, during, and after appointments, while continuing to provide meaningful day-to-day DSP support that promotes comfort, confidence, and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support individuals with daily living activities such as cooking, cleaning, laundry, household routines, personal care, hygiene, and medication support according to training and care plans
  • Transport and accompany individuals to medical appointments, follow-ups, work, errands, and community activities
  • Be available to work as early as 7:00 a.m. based on appointment and program needs
  • Schedule medical appointments and follow-up visits with physicians and healthcare providers for up to 100 individuals
  • Attend appointments scheduled through case management and communicate outcomes with appropriate team members
  • Advocate for individuals regarding medical needs and concerns
  • Upload, complete, and document appointments accurately in Therap
  • Review and track completed, upcoming, and missing appointments
  • Scan, fax, and upload consultation forms and other medical documentation
  • Assist with filing and organizing medical records and appointment-related paperwork
  • Assist with the HLR process, including printing forms, completing agendas, and preparing related materials
  • Assist with tracking health and medical information, including immunizations, vital signs, and other required health documentation
  • Encourage independence, social engagement, hobbies, and personal interests
  • Support individuals in learning life skills, job skills, and community participation
  • Complete habilitation activities and required documentation accurately and on time
  • Follow all health, safety, behavioral, medical, and individual support plans

Required Qualifications

  • Must be at least 19 years of age
  • 1+ year of experience as a Direct Support Professional
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver's license and current auto insurance
  • Reliable vehicle for transportation during shifts
  • Ability to pass required background checks
  • Ability to complete job-related training and certifications
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle medical information professionally
  • No degree required. Paid training is provided.

  • Caregiver or direct care experience

Hiring Bonus Details

  • $250 paid after 2 weeks and all training completed

  • $250 paid after 3 months of employment

  • $500 paid after 6 months of employment
  • *Applicants previously employed by CSN within the past 6 months are not eligible for this bonus.

Schedule and Location

  • Full-time position
  • Must be available to work as early as 7:00 a.m. based on medical appointment needs
  • Work occurs in homes, community-based settings, Lincoln office, and other appointment locations
  • Position based in Lincoln, Nebraska

Pay and Compensation

  • Hourly pay range $16 to $17 per hour based on education & experience

  • Shift differentials may apply based on schedule and coverage needs
