Job description

Craftsmen Contractors is looking to hire experienced Drywall Hangers and Drywall Helpers/Laborers for the New Orleans area. This is for 3 long-term commercial projects. The work schedule will be Monday through Friday, working day shifts.


Drywall Hangers: $18/hour pay rate

Drywall Helpers/Laborers: $15/hour pay rate

Weekly pay by direct deposit


Job Duties:

  • Study construction specifications to determine installation requirements and procedures.
  • Prepare equipment and tools, including scaffolding, ladders, tape measures, straightedges, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Chalk line reference lines and points to level metal frames and furring channels.
  • Measure and cut metal runners, studs, and furring channels to required sizes.
  • Measure, cut, fit, and fasten drywall boards onto the frames.
  • Apply drywall to walls or ceilings.
  • Fasten drywall panels to the inside framework of the building.
  • Prepare panels for painting by taping or finishing joints.
  • Smooth out imperfections.
  • Work with ceiling tile installers to build walls.
  • Read blueprints and designs.
  • Measure, cut, fit, and fasten panels


Job Requirements:


  • Drywall Hangers should have at least 2 years of drywall experience. Helpers/Laborers will need to have at least 1 year of working in the construction industry.
  • Experience reading blueprints and drawings
  • Be able to measure, mark, and cut drywall panels to exact dimensions, including cutouts for doors, windows, and electrical outlets.
  • Know how to fasten and secure panels tightly to wood or metal framing using screw guns, nails, or adhesives with correct spacing.
  • Check installed boards for gaps or unevenness and perform minor repairs or patching as needed.
  • Experience working with specialized tools such as hammer drills, pneumatic nailing guns, and cutting torches.
  • Exceptional ability in planning installations and taking accurate measurements.
  • In-depth knowledge of fasteners, such as studs, nails, screws, anchors, and connectors.
  • Hangers & Laborers will need to have the ability to lift heavy drywall sheets onto wall studs or ceiling joists manually or using mechanical lifts and scaffolding.
  • Will need to have basic hand tools for drywall work, all PPE, and reliable transportation to get to the job site.
  • Maintain a clean workspace and follow Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and job site safety rules
