Job Description
CTAC is seeking a Senior Drupal Developer to architect, build, and maintain customized Drupal applications at scale. The successful candidate will have deep experience with Drupal module and theme development, system integration, application security, and performance optimization, along with a strong understanding of data modeling across front-end, middle-tier, and back-end.
This role requires comfort operating beyond feature implementation. The Senior Drupal Developer will contribute to architectural decisions, develop and maintain custom modules and themes, and help guide technical direction for client solutions. A strong understanding of the LAMP or LEMP stack is required. Familiarity with Agile/SCRUM methodologies is a plus, as CTAC operates on a two-week sprint cycle.
The candidate will work closely with a government client and internal teams to design, implement, and deploy Drupal solutions that are secure, scalable, and maintainable.
The Senior Drupal Developer will collaborate with other developers and a Project Manager/Scrum Master to ensure project success. Day-to-day responsibilities include participating in daily stand-ups, contributing to sprint planning, reporting progress, identifying risks, and supporting teammates. The candidate must be comfortable explaining complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, documenting architectural decisions and edge cases, and actively participating in code reviews.

  • Support the full Drupal lifecycle, including installation, configuration, data migration, custom development, security hardening, and performance tuning
  • Design and implement custom Drupal modules and themes following best practices
  • Debug complex Drupal issues related to caching, permissions, Views, Search API, and integrations
  • Contribute to architectural discussions and long-term maintainability decisions

Required Experience:
5+ years of professional Drupal development experience, with demonstrated depth in:
  • Drupal internals
  • Custom module development
  • Theme development
  • Debugging and troubleshooting
  • Security best practices
  • Performance tuning

Strong experience with:
  • PHP
  • Linux/Unix environments
  • MySQL
  • Apache and/or Nginx
  • JavaScript

Desired Skills:
  • Experience with WordPress or other CMS platforms
  • PostgreSQL experience
  • API-driven development (REST / JSON APIs)
  • Search implementations (Search API, OpenSearch/Elasticsearch, Solr)
  • Responsive design and modern CSS (CSS, LESS, SASS)
