Asphalt Quality Control Technician - Northeast Louisiana
D&J Construction Company, a leading highway contractor in Louisiana, is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Asphalt Quality Control Technician to join our team. This role is essential in ensuring that asphalt paving operations meet required specifications and quality standards.
Position Overview: The Asphalt Quality Control Technician is responsible for monitoring asphalt paving processes, testing materials, and ensuring compliance with industry and project-specific standards. This position involves working closely with paving crews, plant quality control, and supervisors to maintain high-quality asphalt production and placement.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Communicate effectively with asphalt foremen, superintendents, and roller operators to establish compaction patterns and optimize density.
  • Monitor asphalt temperature to verify compliance with mix design requirements.
  • Analyze and calculate asphalt core densities to ensure proper compaction on-site.
  • Correlate asphalt samples with plant quality control to maintain consistency and compliance.
  • Operate Ames profiler to measure and record IRI (International Roughness Index) on asphalt paving, soil cement, and cold-planed surfaces.
  • Identify and layout bumps and rough sections that do not meet project specifications.
  • Ensure all testing and documentation comply with industry regulations and project requirements.
