Job description

  • Perform all tasks related to concrete and asphalt installation and repair with minimal instruction.
  • Accurately estimate amounts and types of required material for all types of projects.
  • Use a builder's level and transit to establish proper grades and elevations. Complete the job using all applicable blueprints and drawings-modifies or alter them to accommodate a specific need.
  • Construct and set forms of all types including ramps, steps, drive approaches, curbs, gutters, retaining walls, valves, and drain boxes, etc.
  • Install all types of reinforcing steel with the proper dimension and spacing.
  • Perform various types of concrete surface finishing including trowel, brushed, grooved, and the proper installation and spacing of expansion joints.
  • Apply all applicable city codes and standards (i.e., driveway dimensions for attachment to city streets, etc.
  • Maintain all District tools and equipment in a clean serviceable condition.
  • Demonstrate the ability to accomplish work order documentation through all phases of accomplishment from initiation through completion.
  • All federally funded incumbents of this position must comply with time and effort reporting requirements through personnel activity reports or periodic certification, as appropriate.
  • Performs all other tasks and duties as assigned.
  • High School diploma or USA equivalency.
  • Three years of experience in concrete and related craft.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform responsibilities under general supervision.
  • Demonstrated extensive knowledge of form setting, pouring, and finishing concrete.
  • Demonstrated organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills required to achieve the goals of the position.
  • Must be able to pass the Dallas ISD random drug test.
  • Texas Driver License and a driving record that meets the District's standard.
