Driving Contract information

What is a driving contract?

Driving contracts are formal agreements between a driver and a company or individual, outlining the terms under which the driver will provide transportation services. These contracts can be for various roles, such as delivery drivers, rideshare drivers, or logistics providers, and typically specify responsibilities, payment terms, schedules, and liability details. Driving contracts help ensure both parties understand their obligations and protect their interests during the working relationship.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals in a driving contract role, and how can they be managed?

Professionals in driving contract roles often face challenges such as managing unpredictable schedules, dealing with road and weather conditions, and maintaining vehicle safety standards. Staying organized and planning routes in advance can help mitigate delays and stress. Additionally, effective communication with dispatchers or clients is crucial for adapting to last-minute changes and ensuring timely deliveries. Regular vehicle maintenance and adherence to safety regulations are essential for minimizing breakdowns and ensuring compliance with contractual obligations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a driving contractor, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Driving Contractor, you typically need a valid driver's license, a clean driving record, and knowledge of road safety regulations. Familiarity with GPS navigation systems, route planning apps, and sometimes a commercial driver's license (CDL) or specific vehicle certifications are often required. Excellent time management, reliability, and strong customer service skills help set top performers apart. These skills ensure safe, efficient, and dependable transportation services, which are critical for client satisfaction and contract fulfillment.

Who are we?

Volumetric Building Companies (VBC) is a vertically integrated global volumetric construction leader, headquartered in Philadelphia, PA. with locations across the United States and in Europe in the UK, Poland and Serbia.

Utilizing our technology-enabled design and engineering model, precision-driven manufacturing capabilities, and project-proven modular construction expertise, the company’s focus is on providing high quality, sustainably produced buildings in less time across varied market sectors including housing and hospitality.

As we grow, we are continually and very selectively adding top talent to our team. Our engaging culture is one that promotes teamwork, innovation, continuous learning, open and candid communications, and respect and support for one another, and for the communities in which we operate.

If you think you are one of the best at what you do and want to join us on our journey to build the future and improve lives, then we’d love to hear from you!

About the role

VBC is seeking an experienced Director of Supply Chain, who is responsible for overseeing the full supply chain across the US, and own end-to-end execution of supply chain operations across both facilities, including demand and supply planning, procurement, inventory management, and inbound/outbound logistics. This leadership role requires a strong background in procurement and supply chain management, with the ability to drive process improvements, manage complex supplier relationships, and identify and implement cost optimization initiatives at scale. This role reports to the COO.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and mentor a growing supply chain team, including setting clear goals, conducting performance reviews, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

  • Direct all supply chain activities, including material planning, procurement, supplier management, inventory control, and contract execution to ensure efficient and cost-effective operations.

  • Establish and maintain high-level supplier relationships, ensuring compliance with supplier contracts and driving contract execution across all levels. Work to ensure timely delivery and cost-effective procurement.

  • Review, improve, and standardize procurement processes and procedures leveraging our ERP (SAP Public Cloud). Implement systems and strategies that enhance the procurement function’s effectiveness and continuously drive improvements in team performance and supplier performance.

  • Leverage knowledge of market conditions and supply chain trends to forecast challenges and opportunities, ensuring strategic sourcing and procurement strategies align with company objectives. Share that feedback with estimating and delivery teams to support pricing initiatives.

  • Inventory & Cost Management: Define and implement strategies for inventory management, achieving inventory turn targets while maintaining an on-time delivery performance. Continuously explore cost reduction opportunities.

  • Oversee the maintenance of material master data, including updates within procurement systems. Expertise in SAP is essential for managing procurement processes and integration across other functions.

  • Manage key performance indicators (KPIs) for both internal team performance and external supplier performance to ensure alignment with company goals and objectives.

  • Work closely with other departments (e.g., finance, engineering, manufacturing) to ensure alignment of procurement strategies with business goals. Provide expert guidance and support on procurement-related matters.

About you

Education & Experience

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in procurement or supply chain management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • A bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, or a related field. An MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
  • APICS certification (CPIM, CSCP) or similar certifications are a plus.

Skills & Abilities

  • Proven ability to lead, inspire, and develop a high-performing team.
  • In-depth experience with SAP Public Cloud for procurement, materials management, and supply chain functions. Advanced experience with SAP or strong ERP mindset preferred.
  • Solid understanding of building material market trends and their impact on procurement and supply chain operations.
  • Ability to think long-term, develop strategic initiatives, and align procurement activities with broader organizational goals.
  • Strong ability to think creatively, develop solutions, and drive process improvements.
  • Proven track record of managing complex projects, particularly in procurement and supply chain management.
  • Strong understanding of financial principles with the ability to perform cost/benefit analysis and budgeting.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a demonstrated ability to negotiate contracts and manage relationships with suppliers and stakeholders.
